Assembly Paste for Disc Brakes . . . ?

I'm getting a very mild squeak off the front disc brakes on the daily driver. When I looked things over this morning, I saw that the pads were in excellent condition, but the paste on the shims was so dried that the outer shims fell off when the caliper was rotated out of the way. I'm thinking that a clean-up and reapplication of assembly paste is what is called for here.

My question: What could I find at a Pep Boys that would be a good assembly paste for disc brakes? Perhaps a Permatex product . . . ?

Thanks mucho.

You really want a specialty product. Ask if they have an equivalent of any of these:

the best are permetex(purple goo) or raybestos(white/clear goo) brake lube. raybestos being the best because of the compounds making it up not allowing it to break down or liquefy under high temps. permetex does the same thing but is lacking a couple ingredients that the raybestos has that makes it superior. Don't cheap out because it will just break down and you may as well have not put anything on in the first place. Also don't buy the stuff that you spray onto the back on the pad, its not the proper way to get rid of a squeak/service your brakes.

I never cheap out. I like spending money on my cars and motorcycles.

Thanks for the info.
