What I don't miss about the Evo is the turning radius is awful. You can't even do a U turn into a two lane way; well it barely makes it if you take it really slow, but if you take it too fast it requires a three point turn, which is annoying.

The BRZ/FRS has amazing turning radius.

I would definitely love to have both cars in my garage. .....you say that a dealer near you has two brand new Evo IX never titled? What's the name of the dealer? I'd like to entertain the thought and maybe pull my 401K out and buy one.

South Coast Mitsubishi, in Costa Mesa, CA. If you ever posted on EvoM, you probably know who they are -- they were popular for selling Evos well below invoice, and a lot of people were buying them from out of state and either driving them home or having them shipped (which in many cases was still less expensive in the end compared to what most of their local dealerships were willing to give them). I bought two from them (a IX in February 2006 and a IX SE in February 2007 to replace it). The dealership is owned by Abbas, who was with Manny Pacquiao a lot at his most recent fight and also owns Mitsubishi dealerships in Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Cerritos and Victorville. If you watch boxing at all, it is his Mitsubishi dealership logos you are seeing on a lot of them, from Pacquiao's crew to Maidana's crew and a bunch of other guys.

Both of the models are IX MRs, one is GG and the other is WW. They had four that were never titled, and I think they made them available for sale in 2010 (give or take) at MSRP. But the story is that some overseas buyers wanted them (one in the Middle East and one in Asia), and they were willing to pay something like $50,000, which automatically raised the bar and kind of ruined it for anyone who was hoping to get it. That being said, people had their chance -- the cars were up for sale for at least several weeks before that happened, but all sorts of people were lowballing the dealership and crying about it selling for MSRP.

I went from an Evo 8.5 (Evo 9 turbo, Evo 8 motor with cams and bolt ons, made about 360 to the wheels) to a BRZ.

I miss the power. That's about all I miss. You can definitely feel the difference in weight between the two cars. The Evo handled very well for its weight but can't be thrown around like the twins. Steering feel is great in both cars. I like the shifting in both cars as well, engaging and just the right amount of clunky.

It's scary to add power to the twins because of its unknown power plant but it seems like quite a few people are having positive outcomes. My personal opinion.... 350hp BRZ > 350hp Evo.

Yeah I lived in Socal (Murrieta/Temecula) and have heard of South Coast Mitsubishi. I didn't know that the owner of the dealer knows PACMAN, this is a surprise because I'm Filipino. something about Filipinos and Evos. With all this talking about Evos, it's hard not to want to go back to the 4DR turbo rally cars. I saw a 2015 WRX yesterday in person, and I must say they look better in person then what you see in pictures. I wonder how the Evo IX MR would compare to the new STI? I would think the Evo would still feel the rawest. Would the refinement in the chassis and improved steering ratio in the new STI be able to trump the old raw feel of the EVO IX MR? It looks like it would, but I wouldn't know until I get behind the wheel of the new STI.

As I type this, my sudden urge to get back into an Evo again or try the new STI I think of practical things like gas mileage and dependability down the road. Evo and STI would be kinda practical in a sense that it has 4 doors and trunk space and can seat 5, but my lean is slightly towards the twins because it's still just as fun of car, and maintenance is cheaper compared to the 4WD rally beasts. Hell, I wish I had a GTR R32 Skyline, which I would think would have the characteristics of both cars.

But that's not really a reasonable comparison... 350 hp Ariel Atom > 350 hp BRZ, while you're at it haha.

It's a reasonable comparison when you are comparing a BRZ vs. an Evo...

But on the flipside, it takes A LOT more money and parts to get a twin to 350 hp.

Personally I wouldn't, but it's not far fetched for that to be the asking price of a clean one, though there's wiggle room with that one, with it being a stone's throw away from 100k miles and having a few minor mods.

They have a white Evo X on their showroom floor signed by Manny on the hood, and it has a bunch of Pacquiao decals on it. I was talking to Sam (the GSM) the other day, and he said that Abbas had visited Manny in the Philippines once, and that he offered any of his cars to Manny if he ever needed something to drive while stateside. They have A LOT more stuff beyond Evos. I've seen Ferrari and Lamborghini trade-ins, but they almost always have a few GT-Rs, 911s and AMGs.

Maybe I'm being biased, and while an actual test drive could change all that, I think that the new STI probably really approaches the previous Evos in terms of handling capabilities, but it won't feel as raw, though I wouldn't be surprised if its just about on par with the Evo X in the handling department and driver involvement, though unfortunately it still has the EJ25. That alone makes me not want to consider one, as I'd get a WRX over an STI for the time being. I'm starting to see them on the road, but they're still just meh in terms of the looks department.

A friend of mine had a silver R32 GT-R, which got stashed as soon as the EPA and DOT started cracking down on them. He actually had his on pure RWD for a while. But it's far from practical, haha.
