Removing the broken belt should be enough...you should be able to draw through the supercharger compressor without issue...if you disconnect the intake tube, you will be drawing unfiltered air into the engine...which shouldn't be a problem either unless you are planning to drive a while on a dirt road

Question Lightweight crank pulley

@KraftWerks @gmsii Is there a way to use an aftermarket/lightweight crank pulley with the kit? I know the crank pulley hub adapter uses the slots on the OEM pulley but I was just wondering if you know any aftermarket pulley that I can use to help the engine rev a bit faster ( since it will help dramatically for the track use when I blip the throttle to rev match the car)..

Thanks in advance

Would like to know this as well!

New aluminum or carbon drive shaft should help as well

I have the aluminum drive shaft, I'll say the difference is significant. Car accelerates faster. I have the drive shaft shop one.

Does yours vibrate? I can't stop the vibration at 60mph. Drives me insane.

No mine doesn't, maybe you need to rotate yours, I read somewhere that might help

I had to send my DSS aluminum shaft back to get rebalanced, after that no noticeable vibration under 80mph. I had tried repositioning it 4 times, no luck.

Do you have a picture of the crank pulley or link?
I couldn't find a pulley that looks like a good fit for the crank hub adapter that comes with the kit, like the OEM piece..

the KW crank adapter was designed for use with the stock crank pulley.

we are not familiar with aftermarket pulley designs so we cant really comment whether they will work with our pulley adapter. however, because we are using a cogged belt a certain amount of pulley misalignment/offset will be acceptable (ie the offesets of the machined aluminum faces on the pulley become less critical. there bigger concern would be whether the aluminum pulley allows the KW adpater to be hubcentrically centered per KW design.

generally we steer away from using any non-dampened aluminum crank pulley on the sheer basis that it does not have enough mass to dampen harmonics in the rotating assembly. furthermore, the change in material and diameter does not make a significant change to the the moment of inertia. our experience has shown us that a proper crank damper dampens harmonics, smooths out the engine, and increases power; aluminum crank pulleys are NOT dampers.

If your goal is to improve the throttle response and how quickly the engine revs up and down, then you need to look at the rotating assembly as a whole and start with areas with the highest moment of inertia (ie flywheel, clutch, crank&rods)

so back to the subject of aluminum crank pulley with KW crank adapter, i think the easy answer would be: not recommend, use at your own risk.

Did you install the kit yet? I wonder how you managed to insert the hub adapter to the lightweight pulley since holes look like it won't fit in

did you grind the 4 nubs off the back of the KW adapter?
...seems a bit iffy

perhaps they are still using the stock crank pulley and just changed the waterpump and alternator pulleys

That doesn't look like the stock pulley since it looks like there are more than 4 holes on it.. I also think they either trimmed it or fabricated somehow ..I wonder how it would affect the rigidity..

Do you know any lighter aftermarket crank pulley that keeps the OEM design and compatible with your adapter hub?
