Warranty voided with camera install

Just bought a 2014 Monogram. I want to install a front and back camera. Still keeping the factory touch screen HU. Will this void any part of my warranty? Should I have the dealer install just to cover myself?

It will void the warranty on anything that you modify. No you shouldn't have the dealer install it.

I am certain the HU warranty will be voided with the install. Will it extend to voiding the electrical coverage for the FRS?

Only if they can prove that any electrical issues were directly the fault of the camera install.

More than likely, yes.

The dealer will then blame any, if at all, electrical related issues to the install of the aftermarket camera.

the dealer would have to prove, without any doubt, that your trouble was caused by the camera. More than likely they will just cover it. cant see you having any trouble. Some dealers wont even void the HU warranty.

I made a short DIY post about installing factory BU camera. It's all plug and play, and depending on where you tap the power for the camera (kit comes w/ a pin that you can use to tap the stock harness, which is empty). If any warranty issue arises, simply unplug it if you're worried.

That being said, the dealer would have to prove your mod caused the warranty problem, but getting them at admit it may take time and stress. Returning car to stock before going in for warranty on certain issues is always the best idea, unless you have a good relationship with your dealership.
