I agree, I think we if could move the esc farther to the left of the air box we would have enough room between the compressor outlet and the throttle body that we might be able to fit a chiller pipe fed by an air to water intercooler. pretty complex setup though.

I don't disagree, but this vs routing the a/c into the intake would be about the same complexity. Besides, an intercooler will become more necessary if this system upgrades allow us to see higher psi. I can't remember where it was but Rob posted a video showing one ESC feeding another and was hitting (I think) 12 psi. It's one of the reasons I will be relocating the starter battery, instead of going 1.5. Improvements in motor, controller, compressor, or energy requirements are likely, but will require space under the hood. We already know that the tq300 is in the test phases, there is no telling what the Phantom, or any ESC will be capable of in 3 years. It would be a great improvement if we could just hold max boost through the whole rev range, but that would require compressor improvements, and motor controller adjustments to prevent over-boost at low revs. I am definitely no expert on the subject, but I have been watching the other ESC thread, and the ideas and innovations they are working on can only benefit this setup.

My only hope is that Rob will continue with future upgrades and development. Anywho, if the current 1.5 upgrade is any indication of what an upgrade can do i can't wait for the next upgrade. E85, bigger compressor, higher voltage, twin esc. All possible upgrade that i hope will really make this thing into a real contender.

I have a question about the Phantom and traction control.
I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up before but, What happens when you step on the gas full throttle and the traction control engages and shuts the engine down? Seems like the compressor would be going full blast when the throttle body closes. The pressurized air will have nowhere to go. This can't be good for the system. Everytime I get into the car I automatically push the VSC Sport button because it's a PITA when the engine cuts out just when you need the power the most. Not to mention dangerous as hell. But when the roads are wet, I have to use the traction control because my tires are slippery as hell in the wet. I really shouldn't be driving in the wet at all but it does rain here all the time. I guess the solution would be to just not use full throttle when the TC is engaged. Or disengage the ESC but then you have no drag reduction. Has anyone tried disengaging the ESC and driving the car? It really sucks. |

If it makes you feel any better, disengaging the ESC and driving probably feels similar to what my car feels like currently at 4200ft altitude.

This got me thinking about the on/off switch on the voltage indicator.
If you turn it off, then it's off. Drag reduction,compressor,everything. I can't see any situation where anybody would want to do this. Seems like a better idea would be to just disable the full throttle switch and retain the drag reduction feature. I'm sure everyone has noticed the improved drivability of the car even when not in full throttle boosted mode. The DR alone seems to fill in the dreaded TORQUE DIP. |

You want to switch off the system anytime you are sitting in the car without the engine on. The on/off switch is extremely helpful when flashing tunes.
