It's a sporty car. It makes noises. If it didn't make these noises, you'd need a friend to ride along and make them instead, because that's what sporty cars do and it's just not right any other way.

I think I understand, it makes lugging noises around 2k rpm, I thought it was weird to when my last car wouldn't do that till -600. This car will still go though just sounds like a haggard old dodge while it does.

and no, I'm not talking about "lugging" the engine until it comes close to stalling. It goes away when the clutch is pushed in. It also happens at low speeds, parking lots and such.

I guess its my fault for thinking anyone on this forum wasn't a trolling keyboard warrior and actually wanted to discuss something…I should have known...

C'mon guys, seriously. No, not all MTs sound like these. The ONLY other one I've ever known to make that sound is my third gen SR5.

That being said, yeah, your car is asking you to downshift. Forget about what it "should" do. Let it tell you what it "can" do.

It's a finicky gearbox. Be nice to it. Learn to double-clutch your downshifts and your syncros will love you back. I have no idea what it looks like under the bell housing but it feels like there's a really heavy clutch disc in there. I'm working on breaking my habit of goosing the engine before shifting into first from a dead stop. I die a little on the inside whenever I feel that 'clunk.'

Asking for any real work below 2k is also inviting premature main and rod bearing failure. No oil pressure. Don't do it.

It's clutch chatter. My dad's MGB did it. My mom's MG Midget did it. My TR6 did it. I have heard other cars do it.

Now my BRZ does it. It's normal.

How much you paid for the car is irrelevant, since you're the one causing it by keeping the car in gear below the engine's power curve. Either downshift for a higher RPM or push in the clutch and coast.

Some claim it's chatter, the springs on the clutch plate, some say noise from the TO bearing.. Others say it gears.. I've had it on several other more expensive cars and never an issue.
The OP just doesn't want to accept the fact that it's not defective. I watched others have trans replaced as well as clutches to no avail.. They go thru all that BS, cost and anguish only to realize its "normal" for some cars.

If you're staying in 2nd(not slipping the clutch) down to 5mph, methinks you're lugging the engine. I know 1k rpm in 2nd = 10mph so that may be your issue.
