Chief Engineer of the Toyota 86....

Points of interest new to me

-a rotary engine was part of the design

-suspension was designed to "roll" with a heavy feel in the front

-adding a turbo or bigger engine would increase HP thus messing up the designed weight distribution (paraphrased)

Did anyone at all say anything about power?

Here, I'll answer for you: no. Your response really has nothing to do with this topic.

i have seen tons of very nice cars or cars that have been riced out:

S2000

R8
Corvette

Viper
True, but I'm guessing most of these were bought used, after a lot of depreciation.

Meh, it's a cheap sports car that looks awesome, no doubt it would be popular.
Plus, more people get to enjoy it, that's a good thing. Means it's potential life span is longer.

Think of it this way, in 20 years, you'll thank your lucky stars it was popular. My baby (88 celica) was trashed up, and we couldn't find parts for her ANYWHERE. And if there were parts, they were suppperrrr expensive because of the car not being too common.

If the popularity is what is concerning you, don't worry. Most people will jump ship when the next cheap sports car comes around.

Considering I just came from a Scion tC:

Riced out? I don't think so. The difference you will come to find is the compliments people will give you. Because they can appreciate the difference between the riced out versions of the same car compared to your more 'tasteful' car. It happened a lot with that tC and will with my FRS. As long as humans continue to drive vehicles. Ricing will be part of the equation.

I hope everyone knows that I don't say a Civic or tC is riced automatically. It's price point and the people they market to make it rice with what they do. You're correct, yours is not rice. I know a shit ton that are.
