Mandatory Paint Protection

I just spoke with a local dealership and was told their cars will be sold at MSRP but a mandatory "paint protection" package will be added for $1500. Anyone else hear this?

It's a dealership thing. A gimmick to tack on more $ onto your car. I would shop around for somewhere that isn't doing that.

It is their way to justify selling over MSRP. I would skip out on that. Ask them what their pain protection is. Probably costs them $50 to do whatever the "paint protection" really is. Basically pure profit for them.

All they do is put some shitty wax on the car and charge you for it. So you're paying 1500 for a wax job...

Make sure you get the imaginary undercoating as well. LOL

If I can't see as far as I'm concerned they didn't really do anything.

it's funny we're talking about this. I work in a body shop and some cars that come in have a "simonized" coating. They pay the dealers about $400+ for this coating so they don't have to wash/wash car as much.

After the accident, the insurance company will only pay $50 for it because that's how much the dealers pay for it since they outsource it, lol.

Yeah, it's a scam. I used to work at a dealer that did that too. It was just some basic wax they put on there and they'd charge $500 for it.

Just today my dad was about to buy an Optima SX but they said they had to charge $800 for the paint protection crap they put on there so my dad walked out. Never let them get away with that BS. I hate traditional sneaky dealers like this. I don't even want a wax on there for free! I want to use my own wax!
