And BeSpoke won't be $200, no where near it. I'd bet ~900 like the current top premium system in the TC since IIRC it replaces that system.
Bespoke for the TC is $479 dollars, 599 if you want XM. Not 900. If you want their navigation it's $2,000. I'm sure most of you have android or iOS phones. So nav is a joke to get in ANY car if you have one that is upgradeable and easily replaceable via a sub $100 application.

Cool. I had read it was replacing the Premium audio system, which Scion.com shows for $900. The "Build your Scion" thing doesn't even name the Bespoke, it only shows 3 options (besides standard) of: Premium with RCA outputs: $549, AM/FM/CD/IPod for $499 and Bespoke with Sat for $899. I thought bespoke included Sat so I used that price.

Kinda hard to tell the bespoke price when Scion's site sucks too much to say which is which

Still only at $300. And still closer to $1,300 than his $2,000.

We can probably agree on $1,600 more both at full MSRP so it only applies for the first 6 months or so after release.. than the BRZ at VIP will be invoice or less.

And the BRZ includes a third year of roadside assistance, which may save you more than that $300 if you need it anyways.
There's other things: 2 cabin filters x 20$, 2 air filters x 30$ = another 100. So now we're at 1700. Remember I said "closer to 2000" not "exactly 2000".

One year roadside assistance with AAA is 80$ so that's what it should be valued at.

My Exige [with its 1.8L engine] harbors about 9.2 quarts of oil. 5.5 quarts for the normal sump and an extra 3.7 quarts through the dual oil coolers.

<6 quarts is fine with me. It's not like you change it often either, perhaps 5k miles for the first change and then every 7,500 to 10k miles depending on how the UOA's come back.

Have we seen the maint schedule? Subaru does 30k air filters. I think 15k cabin filters so you'd have one there. Not sure though until we see it.

Either way, IMO (and I'd guess for most buyers) a couple hundred bucks isn't much of a consideration. It means nothing to me and I'm not rich, it's just part of owning a car. And I do my own work anyways.

If you knew some of the prices before why not be specific? I think you over estimated and are just defending it now

Oh and BTW, according to scion.com this is what's covered by Service Boost:
-Oil and filter
-Tire Rotation
-Multi Point Inspection

Air/cabin filters are not in that list anyways. Not sure their website is accurate though.

I poked around in the owner's manual but didn't see a maintenance schedule.

Might also depend where you live. Again, I'm in Phoenix. My AC is usually on full blast for much of the summer, and that is hard on a lot of components. It's also pretty dusty here. Those things affect the life time of things like air and cabin filters.

Also the heat here is very hard on batteries. A few of my friends have gone through one or two batteries a year depending on use.

Also didn't even factor in things like brake fluid, transmission fluid, etc.

There's a lot of odds and ends in vehicle maintenance. I'm not really trying to defend any number here, just the fact that the 2 year free covered maintenance is not a non-trivial difference. BMW and Mercedes offer covered maintenance plans for several thousand dollars.

Good point, didn't notice that detail. That might change the costs as well.

Don't know why some people think it's not helpful to talk about this stuff and learn from each other. Isn't this the point of a discussion forum?

BMW includes it for free for 4 years/50k. No idea on MB as they offer nothing I'm even remotely interested in

The BMW guys I know don't bother as it only includes the required, not suggested so it's not worth bothering with. Scion is the same, it includes the required, which means minimum required, not suggested or what those who overly maintain their cars would do. There are people that still do 3,000 mile oil changes, you won't be getting those for free from Scion.

Wasn't talking about you

I might call the local Scion dealer tonight to get some more details about what exactly is covered. If it's like you said then the most value you can get from the plan would be 5000 mile oil changes for 25k being the most significant cost = 300-400 dollars.

That is maximum value also, I probably won't be driving the car that much.

Ah it was in the reply to me so I just assumed.

Let me know what they say, I'm curious to at least know the right info. I'm not really impressed with Scion's site so I don't count on the info there.

The main reason why I am going with the Scion, Is because I trust the dealer's shop not to rip me off, and I know they honor warranty’s.
I know dealers tend to honor them more to if you have all of your scheduled maintenance at a dealer.Plus one of my friends is a salesmen at the Toyota and I rather him make a commission, than some random guy at the closest Subaru dealer a few cities over.

Like others may have talked about. Ill just use my nav on my droid.
And decent HID kits cost about 150$ if you like HID's.
I would like a push start, but I don’t think it is a treat worth even spending a penny towards.

As for branding goes it's like whatevs to me. In some ways it's a bastard anyhow. I wonder if people hated it when Toyota started selling cars as Lexus in Japan.
