I just picked up a 2014 Nismo last week. Wow !!! I was driving a FRS . It costs too much money to get the FRS the way I wanted it as far as power.

MOAR PICS!!! This thread has open my eye to actually considering to purchasing a 370z over a BRZ.... interesting.

The Nismo is the only 370z I kind of like - I can't really describe why, but something about the wing really improves the look of the car. I'm not sure I'd go as far as to call it pretty, but it's definitely way better than the base model. Actually, it's very similar to how I feel about the TT vs the TTRS - the base model looks awful, while the RS looks much better, mostly thanks to the little spoiler.

IMO... The Z driving experience is lacking, overall.

Pro: It's fairly quick, decent power, looks pretty good, steering feels nice with good effort and speed. Cruising on the highway the ride is great, and taking corners at 50% - 70% the chassis feels great.

Con: Past 70% or so the car just pushes. The engine doesn't make a lot of power below 4,000 RPM and isn't very pleasant to listen to above 5,000 RPM. The throttle response is fairly slow, and the shifter is kind of clunky, doesn't feel like something that belongs in a proper sports car. The stability control has only one mode - "ZERO FUN ALLOWED." Sport mode would be nice, to let you get just a little bit of slip before killing all the power. I don't turn VSA off completely unless I'm on a track/closed course.

Overall I think the Z has everything you want on paper; less than 10 lbs of weight per HP, a 6-speed, 2 doors, huge tires, but when you get behind the wheel it kind of comes unraveled. It's not a bad car but it's just not a great sports car.

The Z will clearly rape the BRZ/FR-S in terms of performance but the actual driving experience of the Z is far less enjoyable.

BTW I've owned both a 350Z and 370Z and traded the 370Z for the BRZ.

That's what Chris harris said too. When they are pushed they start falling apart compared to the twin or porshe.

Chris is the reason I bothered to test drive the BRZ in spite of the car being down on power and speed compared to my Z. Before I even did the test drive I felt his criticisms of the Z were accurate and pretty unbiased, but I wasn't sure if his excitement over the FR-S/BRZ was or not... The BRZ is really a lot more fun to drive, and IMO fun is what really matters.

That was the same conclusion they had on Best Motoring about the Z as well. A car that ticks a lot of boxes on paper, but when you get behind the wheel it's a rather incoherent overall experience. All the checked boxes don't really play well together.

To be fair, they've also had some pretty quick modded Z's on there. After market suspension probably helps out the car a lot.

But still heavy and still has a clunky shifter/gearbox...

I haven't really had a chance to take the Nismo out to have some fun because I'm still breaking her in. Overall I really like it over the frs. Ill keep you posted.
