So impressed with OFT, now to wait on a few people to get the OFH installed so I can see their impressions. Every thing sounds good so far.

IMHO OFT is a super good value. But... My friend just got a Accessport V3 for his WRX.. and man... color me jealous. Not knocking on shiv or OFT, I still love mine, but the COBB accessport interface is so nice. (they dont make accessport for 86)

The Cobb AP does have some nice aesthetics to it. I was particularly impressed with the layout design and animated icons. At this time, the OFT is certainly more spartan by comparison. But IMO, it is arguably more functional and far less restrictive (open source mapping) and has more useful data display options. I had a chance to play around with Porsche 997 turbo Cobb AP the other day. It costs almost $2000 and isn't user tunable. The 997 turbo OFT will cost $995 and is user tunable. We tend to give priority to the things we find important (price and functionality to the end user). That is not to say that we will never hire a graphics designer and revamp the GUI one day

Cheers,
shiv

yes i have oft and tactrix

flash time on tactrix is only abour 80 seconds and logging convienent as just plug into any computer or tablet and read csv no software required and can store multiple logs.

but oft is better overall device especially for realtime display and ease of use, even wife could use oft

hope she is not reading this

With the maps that come standard in oft, there is one for a uel header. @shiv@vishnu is that specifically for the OFH, or will it respond well to a borla or tsudo as well?

I hooked the OFT up to my computer (win 7). downloaded the OpenFlash Manager v1.4, and opened the manager. It starts and connects to my OFT then starts updating, but then it tells me this:

A new software version has been found. Press OK to start installation.

then asks me what program to open it with. I am not sure what to open it with, I tried the openflash manager, no matter what I do when I reopen the manager I get this:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

I emailed sales@ because I don't know what else to do, software is not my strong suit.
Uh, did you ever get this resolved? I'm getting this now.

Yes. The problem was that there were two different download locations for the software, I think one was the vishnu site, and the other is the openflash site. (I think)The Open Flash Manager on the vishnu site was an older version that I guess was incompatible with the new firmware. Sales sent me the link to the correct download page(which I believe is the open flash page) and the newest manager, and everything worked fine after that. I'd post a link but I'm at work and don't have my bookmarks.

maybe a dumb question, but by getting this now, do you mean you are having this problem? or getting an OFT?

Yep, and I found the same thing. Just got the right version and it's working now. My OFT has been sitting around since probably a week after it came out but I'm finally going to try e85 (if I can burn through my tank before autox tomorrow). Thanks!

Its likely the maps are tuned for the OFH UEL header but would be ok on similar construction (ie primary tube diameter and length) UEL header from other manufacturers. I doubt their would be much in it maybe a percent or 2
