Anybody have any experience programming MiniDSP?

I'm thinking about getting one but I have been told that while you can get good results, they are a pain in the neck to set up. Does anyone have any first hand experience setting one up?

I did a quick search at DIYMA forums and found this thread here. You do realize that going to full active will increase your amp requirement also. If memory serves you are doing passive crossovers on your front speakers. The addition of a DSP does give you a lot more tuning options. With the MiniDSP products, you have to buy plugins for what you want to do with them. There is a slight hidden cost there also. Also you have to check what voltage is supported. The MiniDSP 2x4 only support up to 2V input. If your head unit is 4v out you can't use it.

MiniDSP looks very cool to be honest. I would love to write my own filters (and have to dig out all that filter design stuff I did in school).

That being said, see this:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-Processor-Integration-Capabilities/dp/B004V9GSTS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385993039&sr=8-1&keywords=3sixty.3"]Amazon.com: Rockford Fosgate 363 Digital Signal Processor with OEM Integration Capabilities: Car Electronics[/ame]

Amazon is an official seller for Rockford. That is about $400. For a finished product with support, warranty, and software.

If you really want to play with hardware and learn filter design, go for the miniDSP. (It really looks like a lot of fun). However, if you're not a filter design buff, you may be better off with a finished product. (To be clear, I love the DIY Route, and am not trying to dissuade you, just want to point out the time sink, as you may want to spend more time learning how to properly use an RTA and mic rather than tweaking filter code).
