because it ended with a question mark and he probably had a slight inflection in his voice at the end of the sentence.

Typical OEM security systems are set off by opening the trunk, doors or hood after a certain time has passed after locking the car.

I think that is exactly what we'd like to know is the specific of this particlar system's features and not "what" it is. I've never owned a Subaru myself so it would be interesting to know if it has anything different outside of the norms. The standard OEM alarms I've had all came with different features such as: montion sensors inside the car, ones that if they go off will then flash every few seconds after they have automatically silenced to let you know that the car had been tampered with, etc. This question is no different from seeing if child seat would fit in the car or pictures measuring the trunk space. I doubt I'll get to see/touch a BRZ till my car arrives to my area so just some more information until I get to that day is always welcome! I'm eating up all the info in these forums so keep feeding!

Anyone with experience keyless access & start know how that system works with alarms?

I understand traditional keyfobs but I can't quite wrap my head around how the keyless thing works.

Thanks for the A-hole post, but we are looking for more information than "its the typical OEM alarm"

If I were to *guess* I'd think that maybe the Limited comes with a shock sensor that the Premium might not. Otherwise? I'm sure they both have alarms and ignition cuts.

I think the Security system line might have been a mistake.

Well, prepare yourself, because that's exactly what it's going to end up being.

Didn't mean to come off as an A-hole, I was just trying to clarify what typical OEM security systems are. Sometimes they will include a glass break or shock sensor, but not typically. Most of the time when a model lists a "security system" on a higher grade, it is what I described. All models will of course include the engine immobilizer, etc.

What you described is standard on base trim of any late model Impreza. It will be included on BRZ P for sure. The question is what's "security system" in the description of the Limited trim. What you said added nothing to clarify that.

I have the 'upgraded perimeter shock sensor' on my Subaru. I don't know if base models do that, but my alarm goes off if I drop the hood after the alarm has been armed, or shake the car.

Maybe you read the first post and jumped to answer. It came off as bad attitude because you had to ask "Do people not know what a security system is? "

Yes, I know what a security system is. The question was, if it is shown as an upgrade over premium, what exactly was the upgrade. I know what typical OEM alarm systems are, just wanted to know what the "upgrade" was about.

If it comes to only being a typical OEM alarm, I am more than OK with that, I was not expecting nothing more. It would just be a plus. Just trying to gather more information here thats all.

I believe it is an immobilizer, and it is only on the limited because of the push-button start.

On my Nissan with a push button start it has an immobilizer. Basically, if the vehicle is started and the key walks away, it will shut off the car after about 3 miles. If somehow a car thief manages to start it, it will still shut off after 3 miles because it keeps on checking for the key.

My WRX has the factory shock sensor and I think it also has a tilt sensor if the car is lifted a slight amount (ie towed). I would expect the BRZ L to be similar.

FWIW, the keyless fobs still have buttons to lock and unlock the doors, as well as buttons on the car to do the same when you're in proximity to the car. Security system activation can be programmed in to activate whenever fob buttons (or exterior car buttons) are used to lock the car.

The thought of an AWD car being towed on anything but a flat bed is worse than finger nails on a chalkboard....

If you repeat the wireless signal to a keyless entry car you can open/start anything. With that said I'm still getting limited and installing my own security system later

It's just the Keyless entry guys.... If you don't have the keys nearby, you can't start the car, open the doors, etc...

They still have to tilt it in order to get it up the ramp and onto the flatbed.

I always find it hilarious to see a car getting towed with the alarm blaring...happens a lot near where I work. Sucks for the owner though...
