That was a good one. From reading it it does seem I have no idea what the word security means LOL

 Yeah I saw it and couldn't resist! So glad to see the pricing was right in the ball park of what the rumors were saying... I was shooting for a max price of $28k so if it busted that I'd been ok, but just not what I was wanting to pay! The specs on this security stuff would be nice to have so we'll know if it will assist in keeping our insurance payments a bit lower!

This is the first time "Security System" been mentioned in any of the official press material.

Sportsguy83 04-05-2012 12:51 PM

I'm brainstorming and think it might be the keyless push button system adding the security. Meaning that the car will not start unless the key is close by?

It's probably the usual subaru "security system sensor upgrade", already included.

Sportsguy83 04-05-2012 12:56 PM

Do you know what does that sensor system does?

Honks the horn obnoxiously if any of the doors open after being locked. That was the extent of the Subaru "security system" installed on my '02 wrx.

Don't know what upgrades they've made since then, I'm sure there have been changes in the last 10 years.

I'm not sure what this add over the unupgraded sensor. I think it adds adjustability to some features, but I'm not 100% positive on that.

This may be so obvious that it can't be right, but could SOA be referring to the Alarm system mentioned on page 81 of the owner's manual? The manual does say "if equipped", which seems to indicate that it's not standard on the Premium trim.

Jeff Lange 04-05-2012 01:24 PM

How is this even a question? Do people not know what a security system is?

Typical OEM security systems are set off by opening the trunk, doors or hood after a certain time has passed after locking the car.

^Because it seems stupid for Premium trim to come w/o the one you describe, so it must be something else.

Sportsguy83 04-05-2012 01:29 PM

^ Exactly....
