FA20club 4-1 Catted Long Tube
So,
The header finally arrived yesterday around 3. There was a slight mix-up, I had ordered non-catted, with extra bung. The secondary that shipped was catted, no extra bung :{ I decided to make lemonade though @FA20Club.com was king enough to agree to let me test the catted section over the weekend and decide if i really want the non-catted... In short, yes, yes i do want the non catted. The varex does such a good job at keeping the volume down when it's closed that i end up leaving it closed most of the time... I'll post some vids in a bit.For now, here is a road dyno comparison of varex closed vs varex open. Exact same stretch of road, 4 minutes apart, no change but pushing the button to open the butterfly. Before anyone complains about road dyno blahh blah.. I over layed back to back runs on my next tune revision and they were almost identical so.. yeah

A few thought from today's test N tune.. the resonator in the V2 midpipe needs to be longer to get the sound where i want it. I noticed even on the stock header that there are a few raspy spots in the rev range, it's not so bad when the varex is closed, but when it's open, especially with the header, ohh man, heel-toe blips are raspy race car for sure. I think this is mainly due to the length of the midpipe resonator.. it is about 1/3 the length of the factory resonator.

My setup is completely different. I would not even compare mine to a traditional single exit V2. The varex muffler is nothing like the standard muffler they use so it is not an apples to apples comparison. Not to mention I am on a header and a over / front pipe. If all you are doing is the catback will not sound like mine at all.

im doing something similar. just adding a butterfly valve on one side of the dual exhaust and a quiet muffler to the other side. i hope i can get it super quiet. i really want it dead quiet but i have no cats and full header back exhaust. what quiet mufflers are out there?

I guess it wouldn't work for you though since you already have a loud set up. It would have been good for someone with the stock exhaust.

Don't bring up backpressure, it's irrelevant.
