Yeah in the end it's just a bunch of pipes, hoses, and clamps and doesn't really need any super special tools. I would recommend first laying everything out as it's supposed to be installed with all the hoses, connectors, clamps, etc. and take a picture of it to reference as you go along.
In the end yeah I would budget 2-3 days, there are lots of little things which add up time wise. A pro who has done a couple could easily do one in a day. Does the FBM kit come with sealant for the oil pan? |

I did the checklist and the item I was missing was checked on the list, haha. Make sure you have your fuel rail spacers and bolts.

All the Subaru EJ motors had their oil pans sealed with Fuji Bond while for some reason the FA20 motor calls for a super rare Three Bond product that the dealer probably won't have the exact product referenced in the factory service manual. I went with the Fuji Bond and never had any leaks. The Subaru dealer will definitely have a tube of it. I consider it a more watery version of Honda Bond.

I still have some tubes of Fuji Bond laying around. I went with the RacerX pan which has its own rubber gasket, but was just curious because it's one of those things most people probably don't have laying around.

There are no OEM spacers. Some of the aftermarket injectors are taller than the OEM ones so that the fuel rail will no longer bolt down. That means you need the 1/2" spacers and 1/2" longer bolts to bolt the fuel rails down.

Kit radiator fans doesn't work. Anybody else who experienced the same problem?
Tested it, seems motors not functional. Fuses are ok. It was second day after kit installed. Last edited by Boba_kz; 05-25-2014 at 10:07 AM. |

My kit supplied slim fans died very quickly. Fans died from heat while the car was on the dyno.
After switching to the FB radiator, Spal fans and FB shroud, and moving the radiator forward to gain clearance, everything is working wonderfully now. |
