It doesn't seem as white as the one offered on higher trim JDM models, but then it also isn't like the same tachometer as the G/RC models.
The tach apparently changes white at night (or when the interior lights are on).

I thought the white one had a shark fin at first, but it looks like it's just missing the rest of its antenna.

I don't like the red accents on the interior. I like accent colors, but red doesn't work with everything. I suppose it matches other elements of the interior, like the radio lighting. I'm jealous you get to see Whiteout and Asphalt in person, those are the ones I like and they only had Firestorm at Chicago. I'd really like to be able to sit in just one of these things, but my guess is that I won't get to till maybe next years auto show since dealers will probably not be able to hold onto these for very long the first year.

Having seen the FRS in person in Arcadia last night, the owerwhelming feeling I got from it in comparison to the BRZ that I saw @ Pacific Subaru is... cheapness. There were the usual suspects like the extra cheap upholstery on the seats, the vinyl parking brake lever, the missing trunk lid liner, the cheesy white on the tach, the ricey front end that is trying way too hard, and the headlights just seemed dim. Here is a new one also: missing lights on the visors (BRZ had them.) These are only the things that we could see, and I bet there are also missing materials that would have contributed to less NVH. Some are thinking that this is great because it makes the car lighter, but for the DD, this is bad.

Now it makes a lot more sense to me how Toyota and Subaru are splitting the market. The FRS is for the real racers/drifters, the wannabee racers/drifters, and can also work as the cheaper DD. This group will be younger, single, less afluent, and more likely to opt for the MT. The BRZ is for the older, fatter, married, and more afluent, that is more likely to opt for the AT.

Some of us were appaled when we learned what the target segment Subaru was shooting for, and from this perspective, maybe it makes sense why they would sell less than the FRS. However, the Suabru is going to make the better DD, especially for those who don't have false drifting aspirations and instead appreciate the extra creature comforts and better NVH caharacteristics. We already made peace with our love handles, so a few more pounds on the car is insignificant.

Speaking of love handles, it seems to me the BRZ seats were wider as well. The first thought I had when sitting in the FRS was that the bolsters were too narrow. When I sat in the BRZ I felt... at home. I know it would be cheaper to have only one seat covered by different fabrics, but since the target crowd is different (young/thin v. older/fatter), there could be a legit reason to have slightly different seats.

Now it all comes down to the price of the BRZ....

As a side note, I thought the regular stereo in the FRS is just fine. It complements the level of equipment in the car just fine. It makes no sense to put in a fancier head unit in an otherwise cheap cabin. The BRZ is better suited at this.
Dude you are comparing the BRZ limited to the FR-S...the BRZ Limited has a way better interior. But the BRZ premium is basically the same interior as the FR-S, except for the BRZ premium has the standard Navigation...

I am with you and I really want a FR-S with the top Toyota 86 interior, but it ain't going to happen...I will probably go with a BRZ limited if the price is $27k, but what is going to happen is that the FR-S is going to be way lighter than the BRZ and be a bit faster....So I will get over the cheapness and go with the faster car...

I traded in my IS300 almost 2 years ago for this moment. Time for it to happen!

That said, if Subaru pricing isn't that much more I'll have to take a look at it too. If both seats feel more or less the same and the drive feels more or less the same, FR-S wins purely because I can spend more on tires and brakes down the road!
I think the white on the tach is one of the best design features of the FR-S\86's interior! I hate the plain tach on the BRZ.

Nice way to stereotype there....despite being wrong. First off, the price of the car itself moves it out of the hands of a LOT of the wannabes. So those who get the FR-S are going to be pretty legit in terms of either just DD'ing or looking for a drifter/autoX/track car. Although there is a target demographic of youthfulness for the actual "brand", it is not going to be young people for the FR-S. 1) Due to pricing, and 2) the mean age of a Scion owner is already 30+ yrs old. You don't have to be in your 20's to be young hearted. I have a family, 32yrs old and buying an FR-S.

Only difference I see is cloth seat vs alacantra (BRZ) and the BRZ has stitching on the hand brake.

Nothing spectacular there in differences..yet BRZ is coming in at $27,495 + $750 destination charge.
