In fact for the price of a swap I'd do an engine rebuild, with ITB, dry sump, increased capacity, 9.000 RPM.

+1. Money being no object, Cosworth-built EJ or even a fully worked-over Cosworth FA20. Maybe even an EZ30R H6!

Cosworth FA20 would probably it, unless I can magically acquire a 1LR-GUE.

You guys aren't thinking crazy enough. This is a V8 made from 2 hayabusa 4 cylinders. It's the one in the Ariel Atom V8. These things rev to 10,500 rpm, and put out 400hp. In addition they only weigh 200lbs. So it's a win/win. But if money were no object I'd already have one of these in a caterham and I'd be out driving it right now.

Only 400hp???
Pfft, thats not enough powers..... this car needs MOAR!!!! And the remedy to that is the Bugatti Veyron's quad turbo W16. But even then i dont think 1000hp is enough...... |

Im keen for a Subaru boxer 6.
Maybe go old skool and heavy Torque and drop in a EG33 Think I would go lighter weight EZ30 /EZ30R or even a modifed 3.6.

That definitely goes in the MOAR category. But what's with the turbos AND the ITB's? Is that even possible? It seems like the thing would be 6 feet tall by the time you got all the plumbing done. It also seems like the bolted the turbo on backwards.

I'm pretty sure that those are just off the shelf Hayabusa turbo headers that got thrown on to draw a bit more attention, and the compressor housing wouldn't clear the alternator with the turbo the right way round. The photo was taken at Autosport International (one of the three big pro motorsport tradeshows), and that engine was their display piece. All the exhibitors have something cool and/or interactive in their booths to draw people in, and adding a pair of turbos to their engine probably helped in that regard. |
