Question Will you install an aftermarket Security System?

Hey guys! First post on the forums

How many of you will be installing aftermarket security systems such as LoJack or the Viper security in your new BRZ?

Also any further thoughts or concerns about theft / vandalism if you live in a "not-so-safe" city?

Out of curiosity, how does LoJack/Viper differ from each other? Pros? Cons?

If you install these, would they lower insurance, etc

So glad I don't have to think about whether my car will be there in the morning.

F' that. I'd move if I did. Sure, it could be stolen tonight, but I'd still not buy a aftermarket alarm on my next car. There's no need here.

I want to get GPS surveillance on my car (LoJack or Viper SmartStart) but I hear the car transmits a weak signal when in a covered area (no GPS triangulation)

The standard 2 way security system has about a 1 mile range and tells you the status of your car at all times. The added Proximity sensor would be nice too so people dont get too close for too long:

I doubt I will. The car isn't limited enough for me to care too much about it being stolen. I also doubt it'll be much of a theft target.

Deja vu at least the 3rd time on this topic

I had these on my cars... Not a fan. Too many erroneous alarms. A toy, that aggravates rather than prevents anything. I've seen people behaving more violently around cars with proximity sensors. And it didn't help to prevent small theft. My cars have been broken into... twice. Both times had proximity sensor.

Sorry about the repeat topic.

I'm more worried since it'll be my daily driver :P Maybe just a GPS will do so if it does get stolen the police can recover it quickly for me

Viper/Clifford/Python 2way alarm with backup battery is all you need. Customize your siren so you know it's your car. Default shock sensor setting is best so you don't get false alarms from idiot choppers and ricer rockets driving by.

If you're really paranoid, get a club for your steering wheel and club for your pedals, and the REAL wheel boot lol.

Keep in mind though, if they really want it, they'll get it. Remember that tow truck video that was posted a while back?

No need.

They cause more problems then they are worth. The stock imoblisers are more then enough.

And if it gets stolen hopefully you would be smart enough to have insurance.

Also if it has keyless start (not sure on brz) I'm sure that will be fun wiring in.
But if it's piece of mind your after. Go for it.

Will do Sherlock (theft deterent) + GPS tracker (the ones YOU see where your car is, not any remote company)
