ONe of the biggeast appeals to me from some BBK's like the AP racing one is how cheaply you can get track pads for these. How much are good racing pads gonna cost for this setup? For instance, a carbotech XP 12?

Since it uses the OEM caliper, it'll use OEM replacement pads. Carbotech XP12 retails at $211 from CSG.
http://counterspacegarage.com/ct-xp1...frs-front.html Compared to @Dave-ROR using CL RC6 pads, which run about $201 from Essex. http://www.essexparts.com/shop/brake...-pads-275.html Or his next pads, Project Mu 999 for the AP Racing CP8350 caliper at $348. http://counterspacegarage.com/produc...0-caliper.html Project Mu seems a bit expensive for my taste. Also, you have to consider pad thickness for aftermarket vs OEM calipers. |

Do you use your OEM rotors with your track pads, or do you have rotors that you swap in just for track pads and racing, then back to the street setup when you're done?
If you have track-specific rotors and pads, can you remove them after the pads are bedded in and have them still be good once your track day comes? |

You could. I run track pads on all my cars all the time. Changing rotors on my setup is a pain in the arse (2 pc rotors and I don't want to but additional hats). I used to do that. Then I decided it was easier to be lazy. I can admit it, that's why I am a member of Team Lazy.

Different Thickness pads may vary in performance due the the added rotor thickness. for those of you interested in keeping your favorite track pad, we recommend checking in with the manufacturer for the thickness. |

For example: Let's say the OEM caliper can accomodate a net pad+rotor thickness increase of 4mm (hypothetical at this point). If your rotor is +1mm and a track pad is +2mm for a net effect of +3mm then the OEM caliper should still work in this scenario, correct? Telling your potential customers simply to check the thickness of their favorite track pad isn't enough info to make an informed decision on whether this kit will work for us. |
