lol true man. It all depends with what your goals are but i dont think you would need to jump all the way to a v7 to make 500 hp with a vortech kit.

If I cant find a way to upgrade my impeller Im probably going to find a bastard v3-sc on one of the mustang forums and try to swap over the volute and impeller.

i set a goal of supercharging it and i did. then i left for deployment and found out about toni's tune blowing up an engine so went with a local tuner once i got back.

he upgraded the fuel pump and unleashed a little bit more power then it got me thinking, what else can it do?

so i set another goal of 300hp. got the 2.87 pulley, bigger injectors, a retune and i believe we're close. we are currently chasing a cel before throwing her on the rollers do see what it'll lay down with a 93 tune. my flex fuel kit is on the way so if the 93 numbers are favorable, that goal will be 350.......but will it be enough lol.

it seems like im happy with it for a little bit of time but before i know it im screaming for more power.

so it brings me back to my orginal quesiton, will 500 be enough lol.

@Brian@Vortech Can you confirm if the intercooler piping clears the Spec D headlights on the passenger side? I read a report about it not clearing (could have possibly been an excuse to not install the headlights in the demo video) but I wanted to confirm to see if maybe you heard any reports about the passenger side piping not clearing those headlights.

I've been eyeballing the Vortech for a long time and my HP goals top out at 300 and this supercharger seems to be the best one reliability wise and cooling wise.

Ran the car this weekend at a track day. Performance was outstanding based onthe number of cars i was able to pass. LOL.

I did find a little bit of oil inside the engine bay as noted by the attached picture. Seems to be coming from the blowoff valve/breather tubing.

Is this common? Is there a suggested fix?

Thanks

Define common? ~20K miles on mine before getting the Radium dual cans and no more oil buildup on that side nor the PCV side. 20k miles a little too late because while I took my time installing the Koyo rad, I decided to take apart the SC's piping and clean up the oil. Define common, because now my breather remains clean, K&N filter remains oil free and Radium's dip sticks are wet to the touch from the oil/moisture that would have otherwise went thru the pipings/air box. Can't tell how much stuff is collecting in the cans yet but they are doing their job. Get catch cans!

The crank case breather hose is routed into the airbox. Blow by if not caught will blow right into the airbox, blow, piping, IC etc.

If you had to rate this kit's maintenance levels on a scale of 1–10, with 1 being "no maintenance needed at all" and 10 meaning "shit's breaking every day," where would it stand?

thanks man.

i would a agree with a 3. this thing is easy to maintain. change the oil every 7,500 miles and clean out the air filter from time to time.

So with that said it sounds like a catch can or separator is in order.
What's the prefered setup for use with the Vortech?

Is there any known reason that that breather line is routed through the intake piping and not just into the manifold. Im already running one catch can on my Pcv side and would rather just t into that one.

I thought it was to try and have the air filter catch any contaminates from recycling back in?
