So does this mean there's no legal way to change the headers on this car in Aus at all? I've tried researching ways people are running catless and aftermarket headers and it seems to be a case of just don't get caught.

yes its the AJ Racing house brand, they outsource to taiwan or china, type 1 racing is a japan company but its not T1R , i got the t1r overpipe and its a decent piece it fit really good and is medium quality,welds arnt picture perfect and there are marks on the pipe from the bending process, but for the price generaly t1r is good bang for the buck. for us here in canada its good because quick and easy to order.

@eliminist
I can't find the links at the moment so I will take back what I said until I can find them.

If you are serious about replacing the cats do some research and know what you are in for if you get caught in the wrong. I believe the fines are huge!

I wouldn't really call their products "bang for the buck". If anyone still remembers, this is the reason why I don't deal with them.

It is legal providing you do the following
-You no not remove any emission equipment so this means you have to use a catted header.
-You have the dB level checked by Engineer.
-You have the car tested for emissions at relevevant RTA. In Sydney there are only 2 places to do this. From dodgy memory these are Botany and Penrith. This is a dynamic test on a dyno.
-You have the emissions signed off by Engineer
-You take paper work to RTA and have them sign off.

This gives a description of the test.

If you are in Sydney give this guy a call. He will be able to answer your testing procedure questions in more detail.

The numbers are unimpressive, but it's hard to judge without a dyno. The header is JASMA certified, so might be able to pass smog here.

Agree. I was on the internet all night long searching info of this header. but seems no one has the dyno for this thing. BUT REALLY $2k for that extra 5 horses (according the website). I rather get the borla. even tho Im a fujitsubo diehard fan.
