GTA drivers have no manners.. because no one in this country is ever actually taught to drive.
My German friend told me the infrastructure in West Germany is not as well maintained as the newer stuff in East Germany and Austria. I think their standard speed limit is 120km/h and only the fast lane have no speed cap in-between townships. I've heard German drivers are also very discipline and extremely precise on lane centering with their car placements.

But you are right, GTA drivers overall have no manners and it has gotten much worse since the 90's.

I bought one dashcam for my main car (a WRX) after seeing a few crazy incidents on my short commutes, then I was out driving my FRS on the weekend a couple weeks back with my son and saw a beige camry and a silver small car of some kind crash into each other for no reason on Main St. in Milton (both going same direction, one hit the other or something and they curbed the car up onto a lawn). Got home and immediately ordered dash cams for the rest of my cars.

It's definitely worse now than it was, and I don't get why..

People just try to cram too much into their lives, and multi task too much while driving. The sheer number of people I see eating a full meal, putting on makeup, reading, looking at their phone, facing a passenger, etc, etc, etc DAILY on the 401 is just insane.

No, we don't teach them road manners. We teach them "defensive driving" which assumes everyone is out to get you instead of teaching them that everyone has to work together.

Everytime I see "Canada's Worst Driver" on TV, I want to go and rip up all of those people's liscences.

Every weekend when I go to Mosport, there is an UNBELIEVABLE amount of people on Hwy 35 that see people merge on to the two lane highway BUT WILL NOT BUDGE from the right lane.

I will always switch over to the left lane to allow the merging car to MERGE and then pass and go back in front of them.

I'm sure in either case were making a big impact.

My point is what's the point of owning a supercar if you can't use a bit of it's potential on an open 3 lane highway?

Doing 150 in the GTR or any of it's ilk isn't the same as doing 150 in the BRZ, or in an Accord. It comes up quick, and you have the stability and brakes to make it back to 0 in an insane rate. What were talking about here, imo, is a conversation about relativity, roughly in the sense of physics but more in the sense of what is known to the people posting in this thread.

We don't own supercars. Most of us haven't ever driven a supercar and if so, nowhere near it's limits. When we hear about someone going fast, on the street in a super car we think in terms of what we know. 150mph is as FAST as our cars go! And maneuvering at that speed is nearly impossible, and the braking distances are huge!

Now take the perspective of your average Toyota Corolla driver. To them 100 MPH is fast! Maneuvering at that speed is nearly impossible, and the braking distances are huge!

When it comes to cars it's all relative. To someone driving a supercar 0-150-60 is nothing. Zip...there you are. On an open road, with nobody around it's just an instant rush that only requires you to put your right foot down for 15 seconds or so.

If you don't like that people do this, then you need to make these cars illegal. Because if you had one you would do the same thing, even if on rare occasions. If by some miracle you wouldn't ever, ever, ever go that fast, then you are in the minority of supercar owners, and the argument to make them illegal still applies.
We have these things called laws, and nobody is exempt from them not even freedom loving 'Mericans. We also have private race tracks, they are expensive to access after slapping $110,000.00 on a car, but they are accessible, and you can go as fast as you are willing to risk going after you sign a liability waiver. I don't get your argument except that your judgement is on a par with this privileged 18 year old.

So what I'll say is that I have done some stupid driving when I was younger, I just didn't have a car that would allow me to do it at unreasonable speed..

So honestly, 18 y/o me? Maybe I'd have done it (also back then there was no 50+ law) if I was on an empty straight stretch of the 407. Old person I am now? No way.
