![]() my ideal BRZ STI: higher RPM, lighter car (carbon fiber everything), slightly lowered, lighter rims 17-18 inch, bigger brakes, front splitter, functional rear diffuser, remote start, Aux in center console, illumination kit (blue everywhere), backup camera/sensors, leather owners booklet, better more advance nav unit, easy removable backseats, blue accent parts in the engine much like Cusco and hood scoop (roof scoop? lol) |

I don't think they can stroke the engine to get 2.5L, so it'd have to be from increasing bore. 2.5L would require a 94mm bore, 4mm seems like quite a bit of material to be removing.

EJ205 and EJ257 were different blocks. I don't think it'll be much of a problem for Subaru to come up with a 2.5L version of the FA20.

I was going off the rumor that the FA20 could do 9000rpm redlimit. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...575#post165575 |

I'm still not so clear on how important engine geometry is for revs, but I feel like that rumor is just a rumor. The FA20 has VERY short rods compared to any other engine that hits 8000rpm or more, and while I'm not clear on how important this is, it means the forces that the internals experience are higher and the piston speeds are higher. High rev street engines are very rare and they all share the characteristic of having >1.6 rod/stroke ratio.

I'll bite. My IDEAL BRZ STi would be WRB, have gold BBS, Brembo brakes, 250+hp, lowered and stiffened suspension, CF hood, CF roof, and delicious fender flares (like the 22b). It would be 40k and get 20mpg.
I'd rather pay for quality from the factory and I don't care about miles per gallon. |

Haha, I love how you guys are stuck on the MPG. MPG is nice and all but I personally could care less about MPG. Maybe I'm just old school but I don't mind paying for gas when that gas is being converted into pure joy. My '73 vette got in the teens (literally 12-14 mpg) and I was always happy filling her up.

I'd like:
Engine: 20-30 more HP. Preferably evenly across the RPM range so that applying mid corner throttle is as least unsettling as possible. FI is unnecessary. A more outspoken exhaust would be a nice touch as well. Suspension: At the least, 30-50% stiffer springs and appropriately increased dampening. Larger sway bars as well, but not overkill. Probably in the 20mm area. Bonus for adjustable shocks. Double bonus for coilovers. Wheels: 17 or 18 X 8.5 forged aluminum wheels in the 15-16lb range on grippy summer tires. 245/45/17 or 245/40/18 summer tires. Would be nice to see Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs. Aero: FUNCTIONAL front lip spoiler, rear diffuser, and a mildly adjustable rear wing would be nice. Bonus if the rear wing didn't perfectly block the view out of the rear window. I think that kit would be rather effective and give the BRZ a nice performance bump at a fair price. (Not including coilovers, just reworked springs/shocks) Probably around another $3500. |
