i laugh at the people who try and "race" me on the road. they clearly don't know enough about the car or cars in general if they are pulling next to you in a 335I/M3, WRX, Evo, etc...

So, anyone else running e85 here in austin? I talked to a guy who has an evo running e85, he said that the HEB at parmer and 35 had high e content e85 while the valero at spicewood switches to a winter blend (although they state minimum e70)

I don't mind the drive to get gas, but am thinking about investing into an E content analyzer. Problem is I end up getting gas every weekend as I'm getting about 16 mpg, ~200miles a tank

My buddy Po is running e85 in his FR-S, but he's barely had it since he got flex fuel because he's getting a rocket bunny kit put on.

The only thing that turned me away from e85 is the crappy gas mileage. The performance boost is nice, but 90% of my driving is to/from work. Not sure about blend either because so few stations carry e85 in Austin.

yeah, good call then. I wouldn't want it if I daily drove. I would be driving to the valero every few days honestly.

Flex fuel is nice in that case. You can fill e85 when you have a planned event and go right back to pump gas. The part I never understood is how the car adjusts based on the E content in the gas with the tune.

Flex might be up your alley. I've even considered it at some point and they seem to respond really well with the content and the analyzers.

Plus, no more worrying about what content is in the gas. Does it all for you!

Yeah, I'm thinking that too. I think I'm a little weary of flexfuel solutions due to.. well.. you know.. those who ignore history are destined to repeat it. Visconti kinda ruined that for me.

The only thing that really sucks would be driving any distance away from austin. Fortunately, any time I do, I just take the FJ. but if this were my only car it would be a problem. If you do happen to run out of e85 with no e85 gas in site, you can always run the tank dry, put 93, and remap. The key is to just drive pretty easy to let the fuel trims adjust. But that is a PITA if you have to do it often. The beauty of flex fuel exactly.

I'll have to dig around my files and see if I still have the receipt for that purchase. I'll do that tomorrow after work, hopefully I remember.
