I'm feeling scared for my clutch
Bout to go and teach the SO how to drive a stick in my FR-S, she's driven a few motorcycles before so that should help, but I've noticed the clutch in this car doesn't have much feedback to it so this should be interesting. Anyone have some tips for teaching her or some funny/horror stories that would relate?

Make her stall it on purpose to learn the engagement point. Then try and get her to be able to move the car without using the throttle. The oem clutch is pretty durrable as long as you dont overheat it. If you do manage to wreck the clutch pm me, I have one and live near you.

I'm trying to learn on mine! I learned to drive a little bit on my friend's evo. So much louder and I had a better feeling for it.
Don't know if you set it up, but I set mine up to tell me what gear it's at and has arrows to guide me to shift up/down if I want to. I know there's a way to set up a beep at certain rpms. I might have to play with that. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 |

After you explain the basics, go up to a relatively "quiet" shopping center and have the "driver" drop you off at the coffee shop. Instruct the driver to pick you up after "they" have figured it out and have mastered it. Seat yourself at the counter (so, you can't see out the window), order up some bacon & eggs and read the paper. When they return, they will have figured it out........ ![]() humfrz |

I taught me teenage son how to drive stick in the BRZ.
He took on to it very quickly but still had a lot of difficulty in a Passat. This car is very easy to master once they figure out the clutch engagement point. |

Scared for your clutch? I'd be terrified of the car lol... JK. Just make sure she knows how low the car is before she takes it near curbs/steep driveways.

Well she just got about 1 hour of practice, doing a lot better than I expected. Shes got all the basics down, just needs to get comfortable, she's got that delay when shifting or stopping where she stares at the shifter in confusion for a second lol. The only real issue is gonna be the hills around here and getting her used to using the hand brake at intersections.

I learned how to drive stick the day I drove my "new" car away from the previous owners house. Not pretty, but it was an easy car to drive. 82 Mercury Lynx.
