Isn't Greece still in major debt? Wonder how loans are going over there

And you may very well be right. It seemed like a legitimate price point for what manyy have said is a car that is well on par in terms of performance with cars much more expensive. So the difference between what they wanted to pay, $23K and $25K is really a deal breaker? To each their own.

True, and unfortunately they have a much worse economy than we do.

After watching that clip I got the impression Mr Iacoca was requesting more government intervention.
Did you watch all 4 or 5 parts? Including the part where he talks about being a true free trader? He is. Free trade also requires some modicum of FAIR TRADE. He mentions at that time, trading with over 200 countries, but 70% (or something such) came from one country. That they restricted foreign imports from other markets, gouged their own customers, then flooded our markets with cheap goods, often at a loss. Now that sounds very much like another country today. Anyway, he's arguing for government intervention only in the sense that we go back to SANE TRADE POLICY. When the Chinese peg their currency and flood our markets, that's bad for all of us. And by the way, when I said everybody, I was referring to companies not people. But since you brought it up in a mis-reference, probably because you live in Australia is why you have no desire. Because I lived in Sydney for oh, 3-4 years I understand your country fairly well. It's pretty much a fair dinkum first world country. Though kinda like a 50s version of America I must admit :-)

Sure nobody in Greece could afford one anyway with the recession. Whereas over here in Ireland...

I get the sense he was talking about the US market, and that by "everybody" he means businesses hoping to earn a profit.

For the bulk of the world (i.e. those not living in Western Europe, Canada, Australia, etc.) the U.S. is still a very desirable destination to migrate.

I note also that, for all the talk about European progressivism, a visible minority immigrant will probably find a warmer welcome in the U.S. than in any of the European countries.
