hey Gary, i know that this post was from awhile back but I was wondering about the ESC with FFS..
I thought the whole point of FFS is that it keeps the throttle plate open all the time while shifting to reduce lag for turbo systems..
but as for the ESC, I can see why you don't really need to FFS because the esc comes on instantly with a switch.
the only benifit that I see to FFS with the ESC or without ESC is the speed between shifts, it might be minutiae but I really do prefer to FFS if I'm going to shift at redline.. with that said.. it wouldn't hurt the engine to FFS with the ESC would it?

I believe someone is using the ESC on e85. Was it you, @DAEMANO?
Not I, that was @Sojhinn . I'm running CA91 on Torco Acellerator for an effective 94 octane. Going to bump that up to 98 octane on the next fill up and log it.

The routines that allow for software controlled rpm management (flat foot shifting, launch control, soft rpm limiting) while holding wide open throttle all maintain rpm via throttle plate management (open and closing the throttle plate). I have two concerns with the practice with the ESC;

1. Running the compressor while rapidly opening and closing the throttle plate creates pressure waves that could potentially damage the compressor shaft. There is no history of this on the ESC nor do I believe it has been tested. I wouldn't want to be the one to prove the theory.

2. It's a waste of battery & usable boost. Take launch control for example. You're sitting on the line and engage launch control. The ESC engages (and the throttle plate is slamming open/closed) while you wait to launch. Time to go...drop the clutch...wheels spin like mad...and by the time you hook-up - 2, 3, 4 or more seconds have gone by. You just wasted your best boost/battery on sitting still. A better launch is to hold 4500 rpm (or what ever works best for you) and as you drop the clutch and begin to gain traction, go WOT. Doing it this way you have maximum boost and maximum battery.

Add 2 gals pump gas to every 9 gals e85 and you won't have any issues.

** This is for a NA tune.

It seems that the station by me has bumped up the ethanol content and when it is cold, it will crank, sound like it doesn't start, then fire right up. Very odd, but a bit concerning. I do have the unmodified cranking tables though since I didn't modify the most recent revisions that shiv made.

I guess nobody remembers back in the good old days when we had carbureted muscle cars. Hard starts on cold days were par for the course you just get used to it

Mine definitely stutters a little sub-40f, but I've always started first crank. We get a pretty good winter blend here and the switch to summer blends is usually fairly late in the year. Don't anticipate it for another month or so.
