Nope, unless you're doin' full internal mods. If this thing comes in NA or Turbo with GTR style screen gauges then, I'm not planning to add any gauges. I don't like having too many gauges in the car.

Well, I guess there's no way for me to know for sure if the engine was ever rebuilt, but my honest guess would be no. I bought it 6 years ago with 153k on it and it had (Rather, still has) a slight valve tap to it. The guy I bought it from got it from a local police auction (for $250), who said they found it abandoned on the side of the interstate, with the radio missing and the ignition fubar'd (stolen obviously). The likelihood that the 4A in my car was rebuilt when it only had 153k on it is probably very slim. If left in stock form they're just as reliable as any other Toyota engine from the time period....ok, cept maybe the 20R...but what is? Anywhooo...

I'll probably toss a Vacuum gauge in my FT.

It's cool and all... but I'm bit selfish and wishes to have more features...

my car doesn't use any oil. i just check it because it's easier than rebuilding the engine.

Just saw this...and thought how nice a digital gauge w/ bar graph colored indicator is.

I noticed that alot of gauges, it feels like I need huge eye glasses to even see what it is reading..because the analog gauges have their numbers written so small.

I figured a digital NUMBER would show the accuracy and the Colored Bar graph would show intensity.
I noticed that if I'm driving I shouldn't really be trying to see where the needle on a boost gauge or a temperature gauge should be.
If there was a digital NUMBER, a quick glance can tell you exactly how much boost you're running. For Temperatures, a Color bar graph indicator would definitely be easier to read at certain times.

gtr gauge seems kind of bland. It doesn't have different colors in the bar graph. If I'm not mistaken, the GTR gauge has like a "white" color....which is a small detail...but in my oppinion a gauge with Green/Yellow/Red may catch the eye better with your peripheral vision.

im sure it can be changed, if not with factory software than another way
red on blue contrast is best for gauges i found. i had white needles on blue back ground and cus the needles were SO bright on the blue (blue dials, but white gauge face that doesnt light up), there was a after glow effect that made for about a 10% error in reading unless focusing on it. when i switched needles to ultra bright red, the red light doesnt light up the gauge face at all, so only thing i am left with are bright blue numbers and bright red needles very good for peripherals, abeit ricey but its not for show, but for fn

iirc GT-R gauge colors are White, Aqua, & Red.

But seriously, how often do you read the gauges? Only time I read it is before and after the track.
