Gauges

What gauges would you guys consider putting into this car?

if it comes with the digital cluster as per the concept, then none, it should all be there or at least programmable :) if it doesnt then perhaps a boost one if it doesnt have it. i do hope the car has a very friendly connection port for a lappy :D

It would be sweet if it came with something like the GT-R where it has a screen dedicated to fine tuning the car and monitoring vitals. If not then boost, a/f, egt, oil temp, oil pressure, and maybe fuel pressure. The only trick is to hide them so the car doesn't look all riced out, but still have them pop out or something when I need them.

Or better yet a scan gauge. That way you can have 4 gauges in one and clear codes and stuff :) So let me restate what I said: Boost, a/f, oil pressure, scan gauge!

Ditto~

It really depends on what engine configuration is available. I always thought it was complete overkill/rice for a NA car to have all types of gauges in the car; water temp, oil temp etc.

Also keep in mind that drilling holes in the dash looks ugly when you remove them later or try to sell the car.

It shouldn't be TOO difficult to get all of the above gauges and then some... Depending on whether or not the car comes with Windows or some other operating system for the digital cluster like was seen in the Autocar interview.

ooh thats right forgot about the scan gauge :D
the gtr type screen would be awesome, although if they keep the digi cluster as is (which i doubt will make production with windows) i dont think anything while driving will be possible, and the minimalist dashboard means no screen anywhere. although i cant see it being a long time b4 someone sticks a 7" touch somewhere and wires it in to a motec, or haltec to get all the readouts on screen :D

Who picked intake air temperature? I don't think I know anyone that put that into their car.

Little off topic... (but Haltech offers a bunch of different AIM dash/dataloggers so that could be considered a gauge) Why is it that Australia makes so many kick-ass standalones?

Maybe thought MAP/MAF instead of IAT?

i dunno how we have so many standalones.. we have sweet fuck all cars compared to the rest of the world (eg eclipse... oh how i wanted that car..) motec makes a datalogger as well.. but its 5K just for the logger/display unit.. but that thing is a all in one (have one for our formula sae) and if used in car can replace the whole dash as it has RPM and speed as standard and AFAIK other things can be programed in to it (we have EGT, lamba ratio and some other stuff i forget now, im on the chassis team not engine lol)

CyberFormula 06-29-2010 06:14 AM

Yeah..it would be nice to have a Screen popout in the center dash that shows the engine diagnostics.

and who actually picked intake air temperature?:slap:

If it's a turbo, boost.

That's it.

If it's not turbo or there is a stock boost gauge, then none.

I know that MoTeC is big dollars. My buddy has more money into his system than I do into my whole car. He's got 6 EGT probes for cryin' out loud! One per cylinder.

I'll be going Haltech and maybe with an AIM dash/logger. (Less than 5k for both.)
