Axle-Back Questions

Hello,

Was just looking around for an axle back only. One that would make the car louder with a deep growl tone that is a bit louder than stock. Not aiming for a loud race car feel. Im trying to achieve this for under $500-$600, cheaper the better

Iv been looking at the Top Speed Auto (out of Texas) axle back and the Nameless exhaust(little more pricey) - however I saw that the dual axle back was cheaper than the axle back on the Top Speed Auto site...any reason for this? what are the differences? Id like to go with a 4" muffler setup for something louder than stock but nothing too crazy.

Top Speed Auto: Dual Axle Back http://www.topspeedauto.com/index.ph...product_id=820

Top Speed Auto: Axle Back http://www.topspeedauto.com/index.ph...product_id=816

Also, I looked around for a diy for just Changing out the axle back, I didn't find anything, Any suggestions?

I mentioned this in the review thread because someone asked the same question. They are the same. Don't look deep into it. Top speed is nice i like them since they are local but they are not normally on top of things with their main website. But their eBay store will have the up to date listings and prices. I look at it as a double listings with different titles, but with sale and regular price. You can always call them though, they should be able to help you.

I have the axle-back, i love it. For the price there is honestly no reason to go SP-Elite unless you find a better deal. Even though i like the SP-Elite. Otherwise if you are in the regular price range of the Greddy then you might as well spend for the Nameless. I only say this because the Top Speed is essentially the SP-Elite at a discount.

Seriously, OP. The Greddy SP Elite ticks ALL of your boxes mentioned.

Install is simple. Two nuts and bolts and some WD-40 on the hangers and the muffler is out. Install is the reverse. Make sure to get a new gasket.

Yea for the most part, tbh it has gotten to the point where it's too quiet for me now :P. But yea it sounds good, deeper tone from stock. Quiet when cruising and increases when you push it. I actually had Top Speed install it for me, but it's pretty simple. Two bolts and it sits on 4 rubber hangers. You should be able to do it without jacking the car up.

Very true, However Im finding the Greddy setup for around high-mid $500 while the Top speed axle-back is on Ebay for $380 shipped. Dont get me wrong I understand a better product sometimes costs more, however is this the case?

However I may just go with the SP Elite due to your comment on it getting quieter haha

Maybe Im looking for the SP Elite in the wrong places

I was between the topspeed and the works ab-m. Topspeed was good for SS construction, but was worried it'd be too quiet. I wanted some classy noise but not obnoxious and wanted to make sure it was worth the trouble. Heard the works was a bit louder but still "gentlemanly". Just installed the Works ab-m last weekend and love it. Decision was made due to an offer to buy it used, so I jumped on it.

I love it. Wife isn't annoyed (aside from noisy cold start), sounds great when I have my foot in it and is nearly stock quiet when at steady speed.

Oh lol nah it didn't get quiet on me. I just gotten used to it and then started hearing everyone else with louder setups . Once i get headers it should sound even better.

After it was first installed, i thought it was super loud with the seats down but i was just used to hearing stock for so long. It still sounds great, no problems.

I just installed my nameless axle back with 5" mufflers and 4" tips. Pipe diameter is 2.5".

Honestly, it is very close to stock until you WOT. And even then it's not much louder than stock.

Works A-B. I have the Berk on my 14, but a co-worker installed his works this week. It's absolutely perfect for what you're asking, and also I believe cheaper than the TopSpeed one.

+1 on Top Speed. Under $400/shipped, free expedited shipping and no tax!!! Build quality is great and sounds very similar to SP Elite.

I am too in the same boat as you. The top speed does have good build quality and a lot cheaper than the sp elite but if you're a perfectionist like me...get the sp elite. The only reason I'm leaning toward the sp elite over the top speed axelback is because the tips on the top speed don't align perfectly. I know some members don't think it's a big deal but for ME...I know that stuff will throw me off like crazy. Go check out the thread and look at the pictures and see if you're okay with it. Good luck with your decision!
