I decided to order them well in advance just in case something went wrong (no stock, delays in shipping, etc), but I'm happy to say it went well. I placed the order at 11am on Friday (paid via paypal), got a shipping notification within 3 hours (!), and received them yesterday.

I ordered the 1.5 dump pack configuration (5 batteries altogether), total came to $257.64 CAD shipped (they have free shipping on orders over $60). Atbatt would have been about $330 after conversion, shipping and taxes.
I'm getting a bit curious as to why you guys are not thinking about adding super/ultracap, storage as opposed to batteries for storage. There are many cap. systems available for the massive current requirements of large sound systems, that would buffer and enhance the capabilities of this boost system, in a track environment. Seems to me alot of the stuff to make this more track friendly, is sitting on shelves already.

I play soccer about 30 minutes away a couple times a week. The new way is a mostly 4 lane road that is pretty much straight. The old way is a VERY curvy road that rarely has any cops on it anymore.

I took my 10 year old daughter the old way a couple weeks ago and was driving about as close to the edge as I'm comfortable (could push harder but I like the car too much to really risk crashing it). I expected her to be freaked out. She wasn't and said "PawPaw has done some crazy stuff with me in his car."

PawPaw is my father in law who races shifter karts, so I have no doubt he's had a bit of fun with her in the car.

Anyway, my daughter asks me to go the old way every time we go up there. Unfortunately, it was too wet and flooded to go that way this evening.

OK, so I was with the family yesterday and I decided to drag race the car next to me...that happened to have a family of 6 in it. Needless to say, I think my ESC helped my car with the big W =)

Of you ever try it out make a diy indestructible. I'm interested.

Also, have there been any solution to the placement /mount location of the controller to combat overheating issues?

The advantage of capacitors is that they discharge and recharge current over a short period of time - from several ms to 2000ms (as an example). This is a fraction of the time required to provide sustained boost. The Phantom controller does use caps to mitigate voltage drop during inrush.

A battery of sufficient capacity can provide a long duration duration discharge. It's simple math, the longer the period, the more capacity. A battery does take longer to charge then a capacitor, but they can deliver power for a longer period.

Given that we need several seconds of discharge to perhaps 20 seconds (street use) duration, a battery of adequate capacity makes more sense.

Yes, you can build a capacitor bank to mimic (and exceed) the performance of a battery, but it would take up a larger space and cost many times more then a simple battery pack.

Anyone know the approximate lead time on battery orders/delivery from that atbatt site? I'll be out of town for awhile here and want to time my order and delivery just right.

Sometimes I think people don't quite understand capacitors. They store charge in layers of material, but not in the chemical capacity that batteries do--plus if you leave a capacitor sitting with charge in it, it will dissipate much more quickly.

But, the positives are that if you did outfit this system with capacitors as a charge source, the charge would come on so quickly you'd find yourself in 1957.

Took me about about 4-5 days if I remember correctly. Ground shipping cross-country from CA to NY, though.

Would this have to have the stock air intake box or could an after market intake be used?

The compressor uses the OEM airbox for support. If your aftermarket system is supported by brackets and doesn't sag with additional weight (or the torque of twisting) you wont have an issue. If however, like most cold-air intakes it is simply hanging off the throttle body, it wont work.

Moreover, it's really not necessary. A K&N or similar drop-in provides more then enough airflow for a 250 hp engine.
