the display doesn't turn off completely. when u are actually running any app such as music from USB/Micro SD/iPod or GPS, the display will stay on 100% and won't dim down by itself. if you hit the physical "home" button and default home screen is showing, then the screen saver will turn depends on your time setting, and the screen saver is completely black background with a blue digital clock jump everywhere every couple sec, and you can certainly see the backlit is still on , not the best way to drive at nite, but acceptable.

So, I haven't messed with this a whole lot, but I think if you swipe down from the top of the display and turn on the "Headlight" option, the screen will automatically dim when your headlights are on.

i believe the "headlight" option is for the button and knob to lite up when head light is on, it doesn't affect the LCD backlight.

That's exactly what I did with my Nexus install. Though I'd like to go test that headlight thing I was talking about first just to make sure. I keep forgetting.

This is a good question, I honestly drive my car so infrequently at night that this isn't something I've had issues with.

Has anyone tried it with the 3G dongle or any other mobile data dongle? I know android can support it from doing some research but trying to find out if anyone has done it with unit.

I just went outside and confirmed that if you turn the headlights on, the display dims. Turn them off, the display gets brighter.

Got my DHL tracking number today, at the sorting facility in HK right now. It's sitting in the future on April 30th right now

Seems I timed it just right by selling my old HU and ordering this one just before my 2 week business trip, hoping it's waiting for me when I get home Sunday night
