Don't do it without tuning for it.

Most certainly will not - but that is how I would go about doing it correct?

Yes sir. Shorten it so that there is more preload, but don't over do it.

Given the amount of questions lately in regards to cooling at the track, I've got some photos of how we prepped the AVO Japan BRZ that has been tracked extensively. The key to cooling at the circuit is air flow through the radiator, and how to maintain that effectively as the speeds rise. Speed is a very important factor that is often overlooked. That's because air seeks the path of least resistance, and when you are going fast enough, that's not through the bumper/radiator, but around it. So you need to force it to go where you want.

We started by sealing off the edges around the radiator, important for making the air go through and not around.

Mounted to the car.

Next, and just as important, we made sure the air from the bumper opening is ducted properly through the intercooler and to the radiator

Finally, we designed our own lip spoiler. From our experience tuning race brz's at 230km/h, we found that too much air was escaping under the bumper instead of going into the radiator. With the lip spoiler, we dramatically lowered temperatures and improved handling. The Oil cooler is also ducted and sealed up properly.

An interesting fact here - our RA model BRZ only has one cooling fan, as it has no air conditioner fitted (from the factory). In the BRZ/FR-S, one cooling fan is for the radiator, and one is for the air conditioner.

So how many PSIs is/was everyone getting with the stock kit? I finally got my kit installed yesterday and my log tells me I'm hitting a very consistent 5psi with the actuator labelled 6psi.

I'm thinking of giving the rod a couple turns to at least get to the proper 6psi. Not trying to be greedy.

Also, I don't know if it's impolite to discuss, but for those of you who don't have a great tuner nearby, who have you gone with or plan to go with for an e-tune?

I'm getting 7psi on the stock actuator, however, I've had the actuator off and would have moved the actuator rod in the process. Just adjust the rod and you can bump it up to 6psi.

I went through Bill @ Delicious Tuning for my AVO base map and was very pleased. The everyday driveability was perfect with no surging, idle dips, etc. I just ordered their new Speed Density MAP tune with a boost controller so I'll post up impressions when I have it in next week.

It was between Delicious and Drift Office for me.

I've got the AVO kit also and just installed/flashed mine Wednesday with Delicious speed density flash and electronic boost controller and 11PSI map sensor.

How much boost are planing for the multi-maps? The only other mods I have are exhaust so I went with 6psi and 11psi maps.

OEM map sensor and logging through EcuTek? If it is a consistent number then you have probably maxed out your OEM MAP sensor so you don't really know how much boost you are running.

You're much more liberal than me haha. I'm running 2.5" overpipe, 2.5" catless front pipe (soon to be 3"), and a 3" non-resonated catback. I'm only doing 7psi and 10psi 91 octane, and 10psi 94 octane

King Tut is right. I didn't realize your boost data is coming from your logs and not a boost gauge.

Can you sell your stage 1 without the turbo? Everything else that comes with stage 1 but without the turbo? If so, how much?

Does the base tune come with a built in failsafe for psi or AFR? I searched through the forum but couldn't get a definitive answer.

You guys are going to love @DeliciousTuning new VE tune! I had Bill once again work on my car last month. My current setup is 8psi on 91, 8psi on E80, 13psi on E80, and 15-16ish psi on E80. Waiting on some new parts to come in so I can start using this new tune. I'm on like revision 10.89 lol

No, you'll need a 3rd party tune for thst or an aem failsafe gauge
