I know this is an old thread but I did not see any new ones with this idea. I just got my BRZ and I am considering this.

It has been a year since the thread was updated, can anyone report on the long term use of this setup?
Did it cause any issues to your phone?
Scratch the dash?
Did anyone implement this with the wireless charging idea?
Other locations on the dash to use this?
Or other types of devices or items?

I love this idea and would like to see how you put it to use.

Thanks!

VERY NICE! Ordering one now! Also much less expensive than I thought it would be

Another decent looking option that I stumbled across (no magnets or tape involved): [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Kenu-Airframe-Portable-Smartphone-Mount/dp/B00D901B4W/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1398384544&sr=8-7&keywords=iphone+holder"]Amazon.com: Kenu Airframe - Portable Smartphone Car Mount: GPS & Navigation[/ame]

Thanks @retrosmiths and @ScorpionOzzy for replying to my bump on this thread. However, the keyword for this thread is HIDDEN. I'm looking specifically for hidden magnetic mounts and hopefully incorporating a wireless charger. And i would also like to know how the phone and dash hold up over time. Checkout the first page for an example.

Yea it's pretty damn awesome, I love that you can pivot the phone towards you. Just make sure to keep the magnet away from your wallet. I ruined my boss's Amex by putting it in the same pocket as my phone. Other than that It's been awesome! I get to stick my phone to the toolbox at work, and pretty much anywhere else thats metal.

Well to answer some of your questions. I've had the steelie since october. And in this system, the magnet is stuck onto your phone. I put it onto a cheap case that way I'm not sticking directly to the phone. Everything works perfect I haven't had any problems.

On the steel ball portion of the car, you can see that it's dulled out because of my phone picking up metal shavings at work. I'd rather it dull out the ball than the dash though. Any time you have two surfaces rubbing together, you'll have wear. So on the hidden system, if there's dust on the dash and you put you phone on it, you may develop small scratches.

I highly reccomend the steelie, and it's certainly not an eyesore when there's a phone not on it. I'll snap a picture later today of it in my car and post it for you.

@ScorpionOzzy, thanks for the info the steelie, I have seen that a few times online and wondered how well it worked. I will be looking into that as well.

How do you remove that piece of the dash? I don't want to break any clips trying to freestyle it.

Grip the edges from the bottom and yank towards you.
