Yeah, told my coworker about it and he told me he just bought a 24v leaf blower at Home Depot for $200.

I giggled a little -- definitely gonna take some phlak until it gets installed!

That last dyno post just sold me. Power where this car needs it(down low). Safe due to the low boost, easy to install, free tune due to being a OFT user already, and the on/off ability. This way if you don't want use boost, you don't haft too.

I'm headed to the dyno tomorrow, here's what i'll testing (2 pulls of each):
  • Stock : Stock tune
  • K&N Filter : Stock tune
  • Stock : OFT Stage 1 tune
  • K&N Filter : OFT Stage 1 tune
  • ESC : OFT Phantom SC tune (Super Pursuit Mode OFF)
  • ESC + K&N Filter : OFT Phantom SC tune (Super Pursuit Mode OFF)
  • ESC : OFT Phantom SC tune (Super Pursuit Mode ON)
  • ESC + K&N Filter : OFT Phantom SC tune (Super Pursuit Mode ON)

Should I do anything else while I'm on there? I'm renting the dyno so I can do as many pulls as i like.

Exactly. I wanted to be up about 50-70 hp from stock without substantial fear of tearing things up. I'd prefer not to need to replace the stock clutch (and from what I've read, the stock clutch should be able to handle this). Hopefully have a 0-60 in the mid 5s and a whole lot more torque down low.

The OFT Stage 1 tune has been nice. The ESC should be really nice. The only other thing I'm considering doing - at least engine wise - is the OFH.

Nice. Those dynos will be appreciated.

Why don't you go ahead and throw an Open Flash Header on there and see what it does?

Yes, please. Do all the above,

Then, if you can find some before your dyno session, dump in a can of Torco Accelerator (Concentrated Race Gas/Octane Booster), and do it all over again. Blend it to whatever octane you're comfortable with (all the way up to 105). Wanting to see if the extra octane it cleans up knock and IAM. Oh and how much extra power it makes with the Phantom ESC. Internet searches for it look very promising, and it's much cheaper than race gas in California when converted per tank vs our horrible CA91 pump gas.

He is from MA so I don' think he has to worry about CA's 91 octane piss gas.

I think e85 would be awesome, if you've got access to it @Jac

But just doing all those other pulls/tests etc is beyond awesome!

Lucky him. I was thinking that e85 is roughly 105 Octane, so if he can get his pump gas up to 101-105 cheaply, then this might give us an idea of what the Phantom ESC will do with e85 (minus the charge cooling effects, of course).

Sadly it wouldn't. e85 is more than just charge cool. e85 burns more efficiently and slower (part of why it has a higher octane rating I believe) and this allows the cylinder to build power more fully through the combustion stroke. This makes more power than 105 race gas.

Full throttle Electric Supercharger Build Thread

When I was running the e85 with the esc it was awesome.

I would to go back on it but I'm unaware if I can run the 1.5 dump pack with my old e85 tune.
@shiv@vishnu any tips on this?

That's all well and good, and thanks for the info. Since he's asking for suggestions, I'm still interested in seeing the differences.

Has anyone else thought about using this in a compound setup with a traditional turbo? I'm trying to determine if it would be worth it, and if it would even work. I don't think feeding a larger turbo with the ESC would work well or vice versa, but I don't really know enough about the ESC to know for sure. I was thinking the best way would be a diverter valve which shut the ESC and it's airflow off when the manifold pressure reached a certain point, but that in itself might be difficult.

It has been brought up that aside from piping being hard, it might work well with a conventional supercharger. It might work well with a turbo post intercooler but I think the setup might be inefficient.
