The Perrin chart does seem to indicate some losses to me even with a better design and internal construction. The only way to know for sure is to dyno the same Perrin design in 2.7" versus 3.0". Even then it's not so simple as changing diameter might require a change in design as well to be optimal.

Gladly with the BPBs the lengthened runners behave as predicted with an increase and shift in the bands, so no real mystery here.

It's almost impossible to get these cars to lay down identical graphs from one run to the next. The ECU adds timing as it pleases so each run can and will be a little different. When you see a sharp dip in the graph, that is the ECU pulling timing. The graphs posted above use a smooth run compared to a run that is pulling timing, so they are not the best comparison of the component change.

During our testing, we do six runs for each change to get an average of what the change actually did. This gives us a better idea of what is actually going on and helps us to create components that supply the increase we advertise.

FYI, when looking at a dyno graph you should always look at the graph and try to ignore the numbers. We can make the numbers say anything we choose but we cannot change how the graph is composed as well as the percentage of difference between the two graphs.

I think that will slow the air flow when the diameter is increase.(
I mean the intake pipe)

It should cause losing the torque in the low RPM. (It will help for high RPM
that I understand as you mentioned)

Thanks.

I may or may not have a JDL header op and front pipe on the car ATM... Unfortunately we didn't make it to the dyno for tuning due to dyno schedule conflicts. So we only did street tuning I did however get 2-3 pulls to see where the car landed and am working on getting a 2.5" catback. And then possibly a few intakes. Currently the car peaks at 27% peak whp gain at about 6500rpm. But past 7k it dropped off and need lots of dyno love! I just swirched te car to ethanol a few days ago for testing and will be migrating back to 91 for tuning with catback hopefilly this week. We decided to turn it into a project and see if we can make 40-50%+ whp gain on e85 with full bolt ons. I was planning on a number of threads showing progress.

The only issue is I have a new engine to install in my car so that's holding me back a bit!

Sorry if this has already been answered;
What tools are needed for this mod?
Stopping by autozone later today to slap on these bad boys.
Thanks.

You will still get a nice fain without a tune. You will just get a significant difference at higher rpm as the power falls off without a tune. I highly recommend a tune as well.

I am not quite sure what a stage 2 consists of (I just tune a car for what it has on it). It would be near to talk I your tuner. You will likely need a minor retune because of the increase in engine load in the mid range and decreased load up top. As for how much it adds with JDL header I will post dynos after I remove to see the actual difference. Both header and bpb create similar patterns of power dropping off at 7000.

My husband fitted the BPB to my car today. Couple of clearance issues with the Cusco Diagonal strut bars I have and a breather hose needing a better seal that just cable ties.

But other than that its all good. And what a difference they make, power delivery is very crisp. I have the perrin intake pipe and CAI and they work great together. The perrin stuff on its on made a great noise but didn't feel like much of a gain. But along with the BPBs it awesome.

And all of the above is without a tune!!!
