Really? What thumb drives are you using? You can get 64gb thumb drive for 30 bucks, and that holds more CDs than you can carry with 2 hands.

Ditto on this. A 64 GB thumb drive would hold well over 100 albums of fully lossless CD rips. If you'd like to hold over a thousand fully lossless CD rips, you can probably [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-STBX500100/dp/B00834SJSK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1398195880&sr=8-2&keywords=portable+hard+drive+usb+powered"]buy one of these[/ame], or find a cheaper one somewhere else. |

FLAC is the defacto lossless audio codec now, while keeping file size relatively low compared to uncompressed. Still, an uncompressed codec like WAV or AIFF is still only going to produce file sizes equal to the amount of space they take up on a CD, so I think you need some flash drives from this decade....

I don't really care about lossless audio, so unfortunately, I couldn't recommend an application to you. I just know the technical limitations of CDs are 700 MB without overburn. Albums are usually not the full 80 minutes that a CD can hold, though, so a lossless rip would probably be closer to 500 MB, and if my memory serves me correctly from the last time I dabbled in lossless audio, that file size seems about accurate for an album.

edit: Nevermind, figured it out. I used a spare harness from my old head unit, pushed down on the little clip inside with an ice pick, and pulled the wire down from the bottom. ![]() So I'm kinda confused on what to do with this aux adapter to make aux in work. Do you have any advice? Last edited by Prog; 04-22-2014 at 11:39 PM. |

Curious if you got your iPhone 5S working with the old iPhone cable somehow (why haven't they updated this yet?)? It looks like all of the lightning to 30 pin adapters on Amazon don't support audio and only work for charging and syncing. Kind of disappointing.

I haven't tried yet. I'm hoping CaFi will release an updated cable with a lightning connector. I'm honestly disappointed that it wasn't included since Apple had transitioned over to the lightning connector over a year ago.

I only got the unit in my car and working about 45 minutes before I went to bed last night, so my only real use was the 30 minutes driving to work this morning. Very very initial review: Pros: Looks nice, digging physical buttons over no physical buttons on stock HU/Nexus 7 Cons: Randomly unmounted my USB drive (had to unplug it and plug it back in; it picks up where it left off on whatever it was playing), stock music player sucks (no fast forward functionality other than by dragging the scrubber, which is very unresponsive and not at all intuitive), 30 pin dock connector instead of lightning cable Neutral: They really didn't try too hard with this disp/seek button. It's honestly pretty useless. Random "Engrish" in the menus, but then again, the stock BRZ HU also had a little of this. Seems to lack a lot of typical head unit features, like controlling fade/balance/bass volume, etc (might just be overlooking this somewhere hidden in the settings, but either way, it doesn't bother me). It does have a setting for the subwoofer frequency, though. Haven't messed with the equalizer yet. I will post more thoughts and a more thorough review after testing it more and messing with it. I'm hoping I can fix some of the issues I have with the software. I listen to a lot of podcasts in my car, and not being able to fast forward (other than with the quite-literally-useless scrubber) through commercials is a honestly a dealbreaker. |

It does have these. I can't recall off hand where I saw them, but I'll try to check on lunch or after work and update you.

anyone know the procedure for resetting the unit back to the factory ROM? I'm tempted to try that "root my an-21 u" app, but don't want to try without being able to restore if things get borked up

Just went out to my car and found the bass volume and all of the sound settings for treble/mids/lows etc. Was showing a coworker though so didn't look for the other stuff. Anyone else having an issue with the unit just randomly unmounting your thumbdrive? |
