Shift light

I'm trying to conduct a study. How many ppl actually use the shift light or pay attention to it when they drive? Is it setup for fuel economy or redline?

If so, please fill in the poll.

Thanks!

I voted redline, but I have mine set to 7200 rpm so I have time to react after it flashes.

I have mine set to 7K RPM, similar rationale to @wparsons. Doesn't make much sense to met to use for 'fuel economy' - if you listen to the engine, you'll know what to do.

But to be completely honest, best reason to set it high is so you get a fuller sweep on start up

Ditto

I voted A, but also, C is true.

When I think I'm getting close, I glance down to check for flashing, basically as soon as I notice flashing I'm swapping cogs. It's far too quite, even with completely stock car.

I had mine set for about 7200 initially, but it was too dim and quiet so I kept on missing it all the time.

Now, I have it set for economy at around 3000 RPM so that I will remember to shift instead of going to redline all the time.

Awesome! So most of you do set it high. I myself have it at 7k. I had it to 7.2k before but I kept hitting the limitter, lol. What does bug me is that when I go autocross and/or track, it's barely noticable. I can't see it let alone hear it w/ a helmet

^^ This, but even on the streets, it's barely noticeable.

Set at 6900RPM because 69... it's also the sweet spot for giving me enough time to react and actually shift
