ECBS

So I had been running on waste-gate for the past 3 weeks but today I decided to install the EBCS, I followed the online instructions but when I went for a drive I got a check engine for P0451 ERROR code, even when we clear it we get some sort of limp mode or something that feels like it. Car is apparently building boost but it feels even slower than stock or when it was just on wastegate spring. It also spools slower and seems to run wayyy richer.

I have both the MAC ebcs and a grimspeed one, something tells me Ive done something stupid but im a bit lost or could the EBCS just not been setup in the basemap?

There are some issues to address here.

1) You NEED a tune for the EBCS, because the way the EBCS works, the ECU will control the boost and control the solenoid as to when to open or close.

2) If you do not have a tune, the EBCS will open and close according to the ECU signal that is telling it to open and close to purge the gasoline tank.

3) I had the same issue when I installed the EBCS without a tune as far as the CEL code. I removed it quickly and went back to MBC, but that pesky CEL always came back.

4) When your tuner sends you your tune file, it will include a CEL clear for that code because if not, it will keep coming back.

5) With that CEL and a second one (P0458 I BELIEVE) active, my car ran like SHIT. Even when switching back to MBC, it would not accelerate. It was just like you said, worst than stock.

6) To run higher boost, you need a tune.

the tuner needs to set up maps and duty cycles with it and send you a tune

dont damage your car by trying stuff thinking its working if you plug and play

I was concerned about this but read lots of info online of people doing this for years with zero ill effects.

Sorry if this posts has mistakes, I'm on the phone!

So, This purge valve isn't for or near your gas tank. It's for evap emissions return to intake.
It's been done for years on many a Subie before our 86

Plug and play and it connects to this blue connector on the top left of the pic. When the manifold is installed in the car, it will be towards the back and driver's side.
