I musta been under a rock, cuz I didn't know they were for sale yet (even in Japan)?!?!

Also, I'm wondering if these sales numbers are from individual average-Joe's like me, or are they from aftermarket companies, tuners, etc. like Cusco, etc.? Cuz that would skew the numbers and not represent the average population...

Interesting, average age seems to be around 37. I was actually expecting it to be lower even though their stats were seemingly higher. Japanese numbers could be way off the American ones though I guess.

Stats don't lie. I'm not very surprised. Japan knows how important the BRZ is and just shows to everyone its importance is beyond the price.

From what I can recall, isn't the top of the line GT86 more similar to the BRZ limited US side? And their top of the line BRZ is more akin to well... maybe a slightly better Scion?

There's too many lower trim levels to suggest that their top-of-the-line BRZ is only a little better than the FR-S. I'm sure the S model is the same as the Limited here.

Between February 3rd and March 27th???

Wasn't the car supposed to have started production in March 16th?

Their R is more stripped down than our Premium or the FR-S. Our Premium is essentially an R with all options selected (17 in wheels, LSD, leather wrapped shifter and handbrake, aluminum pedal covers, 6 speaker audio, etc.). The S is the same as the limited.

For those who don't know.

In Japan if you take your driving test for a manual car. You can drive an automatic.

If you take your driving test for an automatic car. You cannot drive a manual without a license.

So I'm not entirely sure if that would reflect car sales (regarding its transmission) or not.

They began taking orders on February 3rd. The first cars were delivered to customers today.

Motor Trend says there are over 1000 preorders in the US

Quote:
On our shores, the Subaru BRZ won’t go on sale until the end of April. However, Subaru spokesman Michael McHale says the company has already received much stronger response from customers than originally expected. There are over 1000 pre-orders for the 2013 BRZ — even though Subaru has yet to announce pricing for the car, or let members of the general public test-drive it.
McHale said that a wealth of positive reviews of the Subaru BRZ in the media has encouraged many enthusiasts to get in line for the newsportscoupe. Subaru will sell only about 500 copies of the BRZ here each month, or around 6000 cars per year.

here's to hoping that the sales remain strong and we can expect more cars like this from japan in the future. it's especially encouraging that the age of buyers is younger than expected because a lot of young people just take the subway and aren't interested in owning a car in japan. a new generation of car enthusiasts = more future enthusiast oriented vehicles. a new silvia and a production kabura would be awesome.
