Customers positive feedbacks are: fun to drive sports car, stable and reliable handling due to its ultra-low center of gravity packaging, excellent driveability that drivers can feel the improvement of their driving skills, and etc. The Subaru BRZ is highly acclaimed by wide range of customers as a fun sports car that any driver can enjoy driving with peace of mind.
Motor Trend has also published an article quoting an SOA representative as saying there are over 1000 preorders in the US

On our shores, the Subaru BRZ won’t go on sale until the end of April. However, Subaru spokesman Michael McHale says the company has already received much stronger response from customers than originally expected. There are over 1000 pre-orders for the 2013 BRZ — even though Subaru has yet to announce pricing for the car, or let members of the general public test-drive it.
McHale said that a wealth of positive reviews of the Subaru BRZ in the media has encouraged many enthusiasts to get in line for the newsportscoupe. Subaru will sell only about 500 copies of the BRZ here each month, or around 6000 cars per year.

Highly interesting statistics. It is funny to see how much the Japanese buying habits mirror our own. Can I get a 'hell yeah' on the manual transmission take-rate?

Also, reading customer feedback during the honeymoon period is a little misleading, but good stuff none the less.

So much for the target market. :bellyroll:
It looks to me like the average age is 30 something.

But holy cow, almost 80% bought the top end model.:eyebulge:

Yeah I was thinking the RA was going to do really well but I guess not.

On our thread, I think 60-70% are getting the limited.

ichitaka05 03-28-2012 01:02 AM

Thanks for the article. I wasn't really surprised with the states... but it's good to double confirm my guess lol

Even though, I pre-ordered a limited I'm debating if I should go premium cause I like the look of the fog-less & no spoiler.

Sasquachulator 03-28-2012 01:06 AM

Why so much buy the top grade? Its way WAYYYY overpriced amirite?

serialk11r 03-28-2012 01:36 AM

Wait is there something above S? I feel like Limited is probably better equipped than the S.

I'm surprised only 18% of people went for the R, but I guess I have no clue about what Japanese people like so I shouldn't have any expectations. I'm betting that the R models were mostly <29 yo buyers.

S is the highest. The trim levels don't really match up with the american ones, for example S is the only one to get the lsd standard and navi isn't standard on any model. I think you'd see similar trends with almost any car in Japan. People here just tend to buy the highest trim available.

Very interesting stats. Im not surprised that RA have the significantly lowest sale because no one in their right mind will buy a "brand new" car with an incomplete package. Well things will be different after the aftermarket catches up, atleast a couple years maybe.

I think this explains why so many opted for the top trim. Any numbers on the 86?

You can get LSD in R trim as an option, I think.
