The tires will be for DD and autox. I live in Virginia and we have plenty of rain and cold days. I won't be driving much in snow, if any at all.

My goal is not to win class. I just want to be more competitive than I was with the stock tires.

1) I am looking at Michelin Pilot Super Sport in either 215/45R17 or 225/45R17 on the stock wheels. With only 10MM difference is it worth going to 225?

2) Also, is it worth getting spacers to widen the stance and if so, how much could I do on the stock wheels. The spaces would have new studs.

3) While I am at it, it would be good to get camber bolts since they are cheap. What kind of alignment should I be looking at given everything I mentioned?
MPSS have decently soft sidewalls, so I would stick with the 215s. 225 might be a little too pinched.

Why is it that Michelin Pilot Super Sports seem to be such a favorite with Toyobaru owners? I never considered the tire, especially for autocross.

It's a great daily driver tire! Comfortable, decent in wet and cold, wears like a rock, and is decently grippy. And it has Michelin's killer warranty.

My Co-driver finished top ten in PAX at our last event, and there's a lot of intense competition at CCSCC autocrosses.

You just have to manage heat carefully and they grip with the rest of them...

I'll have to keep am eye out, but I don't remember many of that tire at our local SCCA events. It's mostly RE-11s, RS3s, Rivals, ZII, etc. It just seems that the love for that particular Michelin tire is a bit extreme for what it is.

If I had a second set of rims, I'd definitely have RS3s or Star Specs mounted, and I would use that set solely for autocross. But for those of us who need a daily driver tire that we can take out to autocross, MPSS are a fantastic option.

It does require someone trying in the Twins but it can start to be fairly obvious too. For example Stuart running within a tenth of Heinitz is another data point. You see that pattern across a few events with a few different seasoned drivers and courses and it should start to be fairly obvious.

Full report tomorrow but a bit of a frustrating test and tune day today in Peru, IN... CEL for cyl 2 misfire, stability control intruding in the slaloms forcing brake-apply (looks like I need to start pedal dancing)

And at the end of the day, took 2 runs in the FP solstice and obliterated my own CS index by over a second. :-(

Not the result I was hoping for

Wow, I've never had the EBD stuff kick in on any course. The pedal dance is almost guaranteed to induce ABS ice mode, at least it did the one time I tried it.

If you brake when loose in the slalom, it WILL kick in (I've had it). But it is much less intrusive than the icemode when Ive used pedal dance.

I am selling some 235/40/17 Yokohama AD08R tires....These would be great for C Street.

Hey all,

In the rules, it states:

Suspension bushings, including but not limited to those which carry the weight of the vehicle and determine ride height, may not be replaced with bushings of a different material or dimension

Is this implying we can use other bushings as long as it's the same size and also made from rubber? Otherwise, wouldn't they just state it has to be a "factory part"? The term "factory part" is used in the next point about control arms, so it raises my question on the statement about the suspension bushings.

Any clarification would be great, thank you.

From my understanding, you can use poly urethane bushings, but not solid or metal bushings.

This is not legal in street/stock and sends you to STX, as poly isn't the same as rubber.

I think they use the language they use in order to allow for non-OE factory replacements, such as rubber Autozone or Rock Auto ones. This is probably more relevant for older cars where stock stuff may be expensive or hard to find.

Thanks, that makes sense. Then that leads me to my next question. If we can use non-OE bushings that are also rubber, doesn't that technically mean we can use TRD's rubber suspension bushings?
