You have to be careful with stick on paddle shifter extenders, a lot of the time when shifting from the top or bottom of the extender, it can cause a flex and the shift won't be processed. Not a good thing when you're at redline.
Some Audi's have had a problem with the aftermarket as well.

It's best to replace the whole paddle, not just put stick on's.

But of course, the material and flexibility of it are what truly matters.

Well, I've been daily driving with these for the last 2 months without issue. The extensions are plenty stiff for the application.

Edit: To make sure there is no confusion, this is an excerpt from a later post.

1: everything is groovy, wouldn't want aftermarket.
2: want bigger paddles that work just like the factory ones.
3: want bigger paddles that don't move with the wheel.

If they are attached to the steering column (instead of the wheel) then they can't move.

can't you just use the shift knob up or down to change gears in the auto?

Sure can...with FR-S I like to shift while keeping my hands on the wheel...as much as I enjoyed driving cars with manual transmissions most of my life

Yes, but the lever directions are backwards, "backwards" based on every race car with a sequential box that I have ever worked with.

As for the paddles, I think they are fine. It's funny, the current Viper GTLM and GT3/D cars, we started with nice big paddles, similar to the 86. The drivers complained about the size, now they are about 2 fingers wide.

That is some nice work. The snug fit around the original paddle reinforces the extensions against flexing.

I agree. A pair of good quality stick on extenders would be ideal for our cars. Relocating will be a project not a simple 1-minute modification (2 minutes if you clean the contact surfaces before mounting the extensions).

I've mentioned this before but I'd really like to see magnesium alloy parts to replace the plastics on the paddle shifter, shifter boot, and steering wheel. Other car brands feature magnesium alloy paddle shifters; for instance 370z, Mitsubishi Evo, and Lexus IS-F, Aston Martin.

But for old timers like me who grew up with floor mounted automatics, you pulled back to go into lower gears and pushed towards the dash to go back up, so this way makes perfect sense.
