Interest poll for paddle shifter upgrades
This poll is only for people who own automatics or are thinking of buying one, obviously.
If a reputable company made replacement paddles that are as long as will fit without interfering with other controls, would you buy them? Edit: To make sure there is no confusion, this is an excerpt from a later post. 1: everything is groovy, wouldn't want aftermarket. 2: want bigger paddles that work just like the factory ones. 3: want bigger paddles that don't move with the wheel. If they are attached to the steering column (instead of the wheel) then they can't move. |
Yes but only of they turn with the wheel. It's dumb to have paddles that are stationary out of reach in a turn. Even more so considering the whole point of paddles.

That also means that you voted incorrectly, you wanted the second one. |

As far as "regular" turns, I agree my hands stay within "paddle reach". However on true sharp turns, around where I live the turns I mean are the ones posted "40mph" or less). I have to move my hands past the reach of the paddles. And revert to the slap stick. Edit: I feel like I should clarify because re-reading my response I sounded pretty "a-holey". The way I read the poll was: 1: everything is groovy, wouldn't want aftermarket. 2: want bigger paddles that do not move. 3: want paddles that spin with the wheel and/or bigger. Was this not what you meant? |
I just want a larger stick on version to the existing paddle. Cheap and effective.
Paddles on the wheel itself only sucks when I'm trying to take a right hand turn and upshift. The paddle is on the bottom of the wheel making it hard to hit. |

I'm sorry about not being perfectly clear, I assumed that the option of paying extra to move them was sufficient. |
Some nice metal ones or even carbon fiber would be cool. A tad longer as well would help out a lot.

They work just fine for me, i don't mind them. Although i would really like it if someone offered an upgrade, even if it's just slip/stick on.
At some point i want to get the Prova steering wheel and it would be nice to upgrade the paddles to compliment the look. |
Sure, your hands stay in the same place during everyday droving (maybe, mine dont). But for performance driving hands move with the wheel for smooth input so it makes no sense to have the paddles on the column as you would then have to take a hand off and might as well use the shifter (though I personally dont want to remove my hand which is why bigger paddles would be nice)

I've got stick on paddle extensions in my car and like them a lot. Then again, I'm a bit biased since I made them myself. lol
