Overall its a 9/10 long distance touring type car but closer to a 6/10 for sports car in my eyes.

DAMN fast in a straight line with just a tune even though.
Yeah that's why I'm lookin to stay light with the cooper s. I don't "need" RWD like most of you here, I'm just in it for the handling.

If I had to chose between a Cooper S and a 135i assuming I was paying I would take the Cooper S, I think its a more fun car on a daily basis.

I'll keep mine at least until it becomes unreliable as a daily driver.

I tend to keep vehicles a long time. I kept my Jeep stock for 14 years and only stopped driving it as a daily driver in January because the head cracked. I bought the BRZ to replace it as a DD, but I'm still keeping the Jeep to be stroked, lifted and armored. Once it's back on the road (hopefully in the next couple of weeks), I'll use the Jeep on these amazingly bad roads around town and keep using the BRZ for business trips out on the highway. I literally (and I'm using that term correctly) saw a truck with bad shocks catch air going over one of the bumps in a local road here. Driving through my city is like offroading.

I could possibly see a similar ownership pattern with the BRZ. When I can no longer rely on it, I'll have to decide then whether to let it go or tear it down and give it a new life. Who knows how long this little engine will last.

Once I get my grimmy little hands on one?
Until it falls apart.

Seriously.
I had an 88 Celica I had for 12 years, I only had to let go of it because it was totaled. Even then,I was reluctant.
Just seems so wasteful, moving from car to car to car as many of my peers do.

I should explain the comment about the guy catching air.

I was over in Metairie and noticed that this truck up ahead of me was bouncing down the road like a moon buggy. The road had periodic bumps and dips, and every time he would hit one the back end would bounce and bounce and bounce from having bad (or possibly no) shocks. I was thinking, "What a doofus," when he hit this particularly large hump and--I kid you not--the back end lifted off the ground on the first bounce.

I got up alongside him to see what kind of idiot was driving, and the guy was laughing like a maniac. He had kids in the truck with him, and the next bump they hit, I could hear them squealing with laughter. He was taking them on a joyride in his crapwagon pickup and hitting every bump like he was drunk.

These roads can be kind of fun in my Jeep, and they'll be even more fun when it has a lift kit and big tires. But in a stiff suspension sports car like the twins? You learn to enjoy first gear.

I plan to keep my BRZ for 10+ years. It might get demoted from DD to track car after I get my Cayman GTS.

Gonna keep it for a long, long time as i just love how much fun it is to drive. I have owned a Lotus Europa and many other sports cars over the years. This car is so well balanced along with the exceptional center of gravity, why would I change unless a better car comes along under 40K. I refuse to spend 65K to 100K to buy a sports car (or any car) when there are alternatives that are cheaper. And also I am about to buy an Audi A3 for my wife and both of these cars will keep us happy for many, many years.

It'll be kept until I'm gone. If anything part goes, it will be replaced. The same for my mini tacoma I've had for 10 years, but other cars have come and gone as daily drivers.
