Haha.. I see u moved on to complaining about VVT now..
After all your sky is falling posts about DI seals, engine longevity, subies lacks of knowledge on tuning this car, opened deck block, D4S misuse,
Bad gas mileage, having to use premium fuel, scions demise, how bad the summer tires are in the cold, rental cars in Germany being removed because of seal failure, ring land issues from 20 years ago, etc.. Now someone at an aftermarket performance company says the VVT system uses lots of oil pressure, that's now your new point of failure to whine about. LOL..
Regalnoia lives on! What's on tap for next week? Oil cap failure? How Toyota oil caps last 100K miles or more.. but not the ones used on these cars.. I can't wait! Best source of entertainment on the net... Right here!

The DI seal issue isn't fixed, if you own a 2012 vehicle, the dealer will still refuses to flash the latest B01C unless you demonstrate an idle issue and charge you $40 for their time without flashing.

So you have to learn Tatrix and ECUflash to fix it if you live hours from the nearest dealer. Not a big deal for me but most used car buyers should avoid 2012 builds IMHO.

I admit a few chicken little posts a couple years ago when we waiting over a year for a new factory flash but I was fustrated. But I was also the first to post not to panic With the CEL debacle. I knew it would be fixed with a flash. The fact that the DI (TIR table unfinished) was never acknowledged by corp was inexcusable and justifiable cause for frustration.

I highly recommend you watch the interview with the AVO engineer. Its not a bed of roses for this engine, its not a tough SR20DET, its not as advanced as or powerful as the new GM Ecotec Gen III.

The FA20 a one-off not to be used in any other car and we as a community need to learn how to help it. Even the latest @mad_sb's posts are showing fustration.

No car is perfect and denying those facts because you're going to trade it in for the next popular thing in a year or so isn't helpful for those of us like me who love the car and plan on keeping it on the road at least a quarter million miles.

I settled on the Camaro. Yes, your car is better when driving it. I said I love it. I can't get past what I have read and seen in YouTube videos. You guys can and that's great.
Why the insults are needed is kind of sad. If it makes you feel better/more manly have a party. I'll live.

I have a vette and have had older camaros/trans ams. The vettes are normally better cars. A vette is 75k now. The camaro was made to look retro and they are definitely not as aerodynamic as a corvette. An SS camaro moves. You can't deny that. Look up 0-60 and quarter mile times. If the SS isn't good enough, you can get a 500hp version.

I'm real. I'm a physics teacher in NY. Now if I exist is up to debate. I'm currently in PA since we are off. You can find me with the Lancaster riding group on my Harley or FZ-09 if you want proof of life. I posted a picture on my profile. Wow.

You can call David Lee at Westchester Toyota to see if a girl with long dark curly hair was supposed to buy his FRS but didn't because of "crickets."

You have to remember, I'm not a guy. I don't have the testosterone to fight about a car. I'm not a Chevy/Ford/Toyota etc diehard who needs to defend a brand or sports team. I'm not here to say Camaros are better cars. I have two Toyotas now and they are the best cars I have owned. At the moment, this car wasn't the best choice for me. And I'm not familiar with the boxer engine. I'm familiar with V6 and V8 Chevy engines and that's my comfort zone. I need to wait a few years and see that the FRS is okay. You guys might not need that, but this is my comfort zone. If they are okay, then I'm planning on getting rid of the Camaro.

We're a cruel bunch on here for sure.. You're posts and comments just didn't add up to your conclusion of this car.. Don't see how that doesn't deserve comments from the 86 crowd. Especially since you based it all on a noise common to ALL DI mechanical fuel pumps. These cars sacrifice NVH for performance, that's the nature of it.. So complaining about a noise characteristic that does not affect reliability and choosing something similar to what you already own and seemingly dislike.. Seems a bit silly.. Since you obviously missed the virtues of the 86 in favor of something just the opposite..
Hard to imagine any other kind of response.. As others have pointed out..
So onto the camaro forums where you should feel more at home..

No desire for Camaro forums. Guys who love Camaros and everything else sucks. I'm not into that. I have just said what I've felt. If it doesn't add up to you, then I don't know what to say. I've owned lots of cars and currently have ten+ cars. None sound like the FRS and if they have, it's because something was wrong with them. I can't have a car that to me sounds like it is in need of repair even it you guys are saying this is what the car should sound like. I'm hoping that they do something to get rid of the "crickets." Until then, I personally can't do it, to the point where, yes, I'm settling.

The FA20 is not a quiet engine with DI. That plus the occasional crickets are part of life but you don't notice them at all when you are driving the car and I also bought better speakers

If you guys have these for a few years and they are okay, the Camaro will take a hike.

Oh, I'm not denying that a Camaro SS is fast. However, because it's relatively big, heavy, and and slow to respond to inputs (compared to a Cayman, FR-S, Miata, etc), it doesn't FEEL very fast, in my opinion. That having been said, it looks absolutely fantastic, and if someone buys a Camaro after deciding it's the right car for them, I'll be the first to congratulate them on their new car. Not everyone has to have the same priorities in a car.

I fill mine up with non ethanol just so I don't have the hear it. But honestly it's not a huge deal. I certainly wouldn't not buy the car because of it and then turn around and buy something I didn't really like.

Purely out of curiosity, do you own any cars with direct injection? Especially high compression engines with direct injection?
