Sorry for reviving this thread but, sound wise. is it worth the extra 100 bucks to get the 3" perrin catback?

If you are going down a FI route later on then yes. Or perhaps looking for an exhaust a tad bit louder than the 2.5". I've got the 2.5" resonated and extremely happy with the quality overall.

I wish I had seen this earlier, as I was just under the BRZ installing the Perrin Shifter Bushing and I could have measured it easily.

If you need an approximate and not an exact, the Resonator is about 30" long, it's pretty big compared to others, it's also probably 4" in diameter.

I can confirm this!

Good estimation.

I have a stupid question. How can I tell if I have a leak on one of the clamps? The exhaust is fairly loud between 1-3k rpm. I tightened the vclamps to within a half inch of each of those metal parts. They aren't touching like in the pictures here but I'm worried I'll break them if I tighten them anymore. It is a 2.5 resonated so I dont think it should be this loud. At 4k and above it doesn't sound loud.

When I installed mine I had the car up on 4 jackstands. I let it idle for about 10 minutes while still on the jacks. I crawled underneath the car while it was running and listened/looked for leaks. I could not hear any over the noise of the engine but I could certainly see water and condensation forming around the rearmost V-band clamp. I tightened it up a couple more turns and the drips stopped.

So to look for leaks I would park your car over some cardboard and let it idle for a few minutes or so. If you see and water marks on the cardboard you probably have a leak, at least at idle speeds. Even so I don't think it's an issue if its just a pin-hole leak south of the cat.

The ends of the V-Band Clamp should be touching or VERY close to touching...half an inch is an enormous Gap and would definitely be too loose.

The following quote about the clamps is from Chris Perrin himself.

When the V band is clamped down all the way, both the ends will be touching.

I just crawled under the car tonight to check my driveshaft bolts. I believe I saw that my clamps had ~1/4 in gap.

Did the Perrin guys post the data they promised for the 3" system? I know it's shipping as I just ordered one.

You guys were right it did need tightened down more. Although not as tight as I made the one near the muffler, yeah I broke it. Thankfully I managed to find a replacement at the local Advanced auto. Now it sounds like it should. The drone is gone and it is just a bit louder than stock. Thanks again for those that gave me tips.

hmmm... I think I'll crawl under mine and check them. I'm pretty sure they're tight but I don't think mine are touching. I wouldn't have thought that a small leak would cause drone. I'm not so sure about that.

Sorry guys, I'm not sure why I said that, actually the V band end should not be touching, there should be a gap, about even with the gaps around the V band, but most important, 70 in lbs, not ft lbs!
