@Kamakanani0 Do you use a DA polisher, or do you do everything by hand?

Nice, you did a great job with it! It's always challenging when you have black paint that is THAT neglected and swirled and especially on a 10 year old car, you got it looking pretty damn good!

Will you list the products and steps that you did??

Nice. I do everything by hand, but if I ever needed to do a swirl correction, I'd have to buy a DA since it'll be more effective and efficient. Great job on that TL, btw.

How do you wash your car? Since you mentioned you have swirl marks, I'm assuming you wash with circular motions, and most likely a short haired wash mitt. If you do, you should get in the habit of washing in linear motions using a long haired microfiber wash mitt.

I've post this here when I first joined, but since we are talking about car detailing, I'll post it again

http://microimageonline.com/forums/s...tailing-Thread

Post 16 is where I start talking about how I detail cars. lol

I helped detail my coworker's Corolla.

Sorry, I get excited when someone talks about car detailing. LOL. Not me in the pic, except for the scratch reflection ones btw.

@Kamakanani0 I didn't know there were other people interested in detailing on here. Wish I would've known that when I was (attempting) to detail my pretty badly swirled black WRX a few months ago. It was my first time trying anything like that so it was rather difficult but I think I got the hang of it.

Unfortunately I don't have any good "after" pics, but here's a nice pic illustrating how bad it was "before":

I used to be really big in keeping my car clean, but now... just bleh...

Anyways... here are the things I have learned.

1. Cleanliness is key. Make sure you use a good quality wash medium. I like to use microfiber wash pads that kind of look like these. They seem to hold water/suds really well.

http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-83-ad...-wash-pad.aspx

I also like to use the 2 bucket method + 2 Grit Guard inserts. One bucket is clean soap water. The other is rinse water. After "washing" each panel, I clean the washpad out in the rinse water to get rid of all the junk I took off the paint, and reintroduce a clean washpad back to the soap bucket.

2. Follow the directions of the soap. If you use too much soap, you can possibly strip the wax off the car, meaning no paint protection.

3. This is a little bit expensive, but a Gilmour Foammaster is a pretty nifty tool. You can pre-soak the car with foam/suds. It is nice to have and helps with lifting junk off the paint before you actually have to touch the paint. One can be hand from Amazon fairly inexpensively.

4. Lastly, you don't need to press hard on the washpad/mitt when you wash your car. Just the weight of the pad and move it across the paint. You can always come back over and do another pass if needed or use a clay bar.

I need to hit you up man, I've been neglecting my car bad. It still has huge black streaks all over it from my last track day (from those little rubber bits that fly around the track). Quick detailer and tar could not get it off...

Step 1: call Kamaka
Step 2: have Kamaka detail your car
Step 3: Profit (for Kamaka)

I use compound polish to get rid of those rubber streak marks. Should come right off.
