Huh? The STi is still using an EJ, but it doesn't have a twin scroll, and the '15 WRX has a twin scroll, but it isn't an EJ (it's a 2L DIT FA based engine). A '14 WRX does have an EJ, but it's single scroll...

I'm talking about twin scroll on WRX. I own one, I know.

Unless it's a '15, it ain't a twin scroll...

(Unless you replaced the turbo, of course)

Yup. The new body. Stiff everywhere, close to none bodyroll at stock form, nicely bolstered front seats.

Agreed. Nevermind a Z06 or GTR, the 2015 WRX can't compete with a base Corvette Stingray, let alone a Cayman S or even a Mustang GT.

I wouldn't be that surprised if a '15 STi could keep up with the Mustang GT around a track (though the '15 Mustang might change that), but I agree that it definitely wouldn't keep up with a Z06, GTR, or any other traditional "budget" supercars.

I might be joining you soon. I am very excited to see what the FA20 can do in the WRX. Where do you find is the best forum for information on the 2015 WRX? Since it is no longer an Impreza, I am thinking somewhere other than NASIOC.

NASIOC has everything Subaru. I go there most of the time, but iwsti is also a good place since STI and WRX are very similar now.

I thought it was still Impreza-based after all (and even if it isn't, I would tend to think NASIOC would still likely be the best resource).

The only thing "not Impreza" about it is that Subaru removed Impreza from it's name. Same platform, same greenhouse, etc.

Not to talk poorly about the 2015 STI, as it's definitely a car that is greater than the sum of it's parts, but I highly doubt that.

The last WRX STI tested at VIR (Car & Driver's Lightning Laps), in 2011, recorded a lap time of 3:13.8. The V6 Mustang tested the same year turned a 3:12.5 (despite hitting it's speed limited) and the 5.0 (also tested that year) a 3:08.6.

Even if the new WRX STI were to be 4 seconds a lap faster (possible) the brand new GT is surely faster as well. Obviously this is just one instance, but it's important to note that all 3 cars were tested the same day.

Well people have already taken delivery and they haven't added any section to talk about the FA20 or the new body style. All I found was the super long single 2015 WRX thread on NASIOC. It would be nice if it got its own forum like the BRZ has.

Motor Trend tested the 2015 STI against the M235i and CLA45 AMG, and while it won against those cars on the track, it's performance wasn't ground-breaking, certainly not enough to take down bona fide supercars like the Z06 Vette. In fact, I'd say it's performance was most comparable to the current Evo X.

2015 STI
0-60: 4.6 s
1/4: 13.1 s @ 104 mph
60-0: 108 ft
Skid: 0.97 g
Fig-8: 24.9 s

Evo X SE
0-60: 4.5 s
1/4: 13.3 s @ 103 mph
60-0: 112 ft
Skid: 0.93 g
Fig-8: 25.0 s

I'd probably look at the current Evo X as the closest comparable for track performance, with the STI having a small advantage.

Impressive? Yes. Supercar-killer? No.
